Hi All.
ZOC, (1993-2000) by Markus Schmidt has been updated to version 3.14 for OS/2 Warp and for Windows.
I tested it on Windows 2000 Pro and runs really fine! ZOC is one of the most
famous tools for communications using computers. ZOC is an award winning telnet,
secure shell (SSH), rlogin, modem and ISDN comm. application which offers a
feature richness that is rarely found even in commercial packages. ZOC is shareware.
I @Macarlo use ZOC since a period before the Net. For long time I used it for
access BBS and download and upload files, and for chat with friends. I registered
my copy directly with the developer, in Germany.

Photo above shows ZOC's 3.14 folder opened on @Macarlo's Windows 2000
For me, as a eremite, ZOC was essential. Just using ZOC I learned English alone, talking in chat with programmers, crackers and hackers. If ZOC not exist, probably this report in English also not is here. I remember when I registered ZOC with Markus Goemmel. After some days I received a letter with my code, instructions to insert it using a secret process and a ZOC copy in a nice diskette!

Install
To install ZOC just type INSTALL at a command prompt. The windowed
install program will handle the rest.
If you encounter problems of any kind,
please try to install ZOC
into a fresh directory on your boot drive without importing
files
from a prior ZOC version.
Note: ZOC should not be installed
over or importing from an existing
beta version of ZOC.
Problems

Photo above shows ZOC telneting Norloff's OS/2 BBS from @Macarlo's Warp 4.0
Known problems when running ZOC for
OS/2
* Lost characters with ET4000W32 video
boards and Warp
The Warp ET4000W32 drivers seem to cause
lost characters in
the serial device.
Solutions:
* Use the plain ET4000 drivers that
come with Warp
* There are updated drivers available
from IBM's driver section at
http://ps.boulder.ibm.com
* Lost characters with Matrox Millenium/Mystique
With Matrox video boards, disabling the
"Automatic PCI Bus Retry"
option might help.
* If the ZOC dialing or transfer windows
are dragged while they are
about to be closed, they will stay open
and lock the program.
* Install program aborts with Trident
9440A video boards
Cause unknown (so far).
Please try to unpack INSTALL.FIL manually
(unzip INSTALL.FIL).
* Several problems were reported with
ATI video drivers, especially
with 16.7 Meg. colors
* ZOC for OS/2 crashes with earlier versions of ATI
MACH 32 drivers
when aborting a REXX script. There
are drivers available from IBM
BBSs under the name MACH32.ZIP The
version number must be higher
than 2.6
* Sometimes strange things happen with Warp's COM.SYS.
There is a replacement COM.SYS driver from
IBM. It is available
on CompuServe's OS2SUPPORT forum (lib 23,
WFP_03.ZIP), on
ftp01.ny.us.ibm.net (/pub/warpcom/WRPCOM.ZIP)
and on the ZOC
Support BBS.
As far as we can tell, all these problems
are due to OS/2 and not
due to ZOC.

Photo above shows ZOC 3.12 running on @Macarlos Windows NT 4.0
Known problems when runningn ZOC for Windows
* ZOC does not work with Teles WinCOM
(because WinCOM is a 16bit
application)
* ZOC reports "Assert" errors
with the modem sharing tool Stomper
FIX: It is a bug in Stomper, please upgrade
your stomper client
* The TELES CAPI only supplies unit
and time information, if
the function "Device->Accept calls"
is active.
* The Teles ISDN CAPI V2.0 does not seem to work with
PNP32 sound boards.
The problem is very likely not caused by
ZOC.
* If you have other problems with ISDN drivers, please
check ISDN.DOC
and the common problems sections of the
help menu (there are at least
four items regarding ISDN).
* Crash in Module GDI.EXE with Hercules
Dynamite 128 video board
(will probably happen with other ET6000
boards also). Another user
encountered screen corruptions with the
same board.
FIX: either use ET4000 drivers or decrease
video acceleration in
the ET6000 drivers.
* Crashes GDI.EXE with ATI MACH32
drivers when certain fonts (from
the Telix comm package, eg. Telix VT Font)
are installed.
* Lost characters on some machines
when scrolling text in high
resolution and high color mode.
Workaround: Use a lower screen resolution
or less colors or try
another driver. (A user got this problem
fixed by using a generic
S3 driver for his video board, insted of
the manufacturer's).
With Matrox video boards, disabling the
"Automatic PCI Bus Retry"
option might help.
Please contact EmTec if you encounter this
behaviour!
* Under certain circumstances the
Terminal family of fonts is
lost. They reappear after a system shutdown
and reboot. On some
systems, they are only available when a
DOS window or DOS Program
is open.
The cause of the problem has not yet been
determined, but it
probably is a video driver problem. Please
contact EmTec if
you encounter this behaviour!
Developer information
If you are a developer, there are several points for you to
hook in.
The most obvious area where a programmer
could control ZOC is
the REXX programming language. It is very powerful
and allows
access to many areas of ZOC.
Windows Version only: The REXX
processor was licensed from Enterprise
Alternatives, Inc. and is available as a separate product.
If you
want to use REXX for Windows scripting, please contact
Enterprise
Alternatives for details (see order section of the ZOC
help menu).
If you want ZOC to act as a background
communication server you
can use DDE. DDE is described in the Online Help
(Help->Contents->
Programming ZOC) and you can get a sample DDE client
(C source
code) from EmTec's ftp server (see www.emtec.com). Via
DDE you have
access to all features that can be controlled by REXX.
Based on
ZOC DDE, it is rather easy to build Front-Ends for character
based
online databases, be it that they are accessed by modem,
ISDN,
Internet or LAN.
Also, the most ambitious developers
can under certain circumstances
get access to the specs that are used to implement emulations,
I/O
devices and file transfer protocols.
Last but not least, if you have an
existing phone book from another
comm program that is not supported by ZOCs import module,
and if you
like to program an import function in C, please contact
EmTec for
sample source code and other information.
REXX: Contacting Enterprise Alternatives
The REXX processor which you are using in ZOC is licensed from the company Enterprise Alternatives. Enterprise REXX for Windows, WinREXX, allows you to use REXX as a scripting language for Windows NT, Windows 95 and also Windows 3.1. The WinREXX product provides a REXX program source edit and execution window with menu selected options such as "REXX Syntax check" for development and "Execute with Trace" for debugging. In addition to the standard REXX built-in functions, WinREXX also contains many Windows specific functions, for example to access the System Registry and to send electronic mail via MAPI.
Contact Enterprise Alternatives to order Enterprise REXX for Windows, or for additional information:
