WaveConvert
Pro Is The Best And New
Winamp Runs Fantastic On Win XP
by
Macarlo
Since last year I was seeking
for a decent file converter to compress *.wav on my Windows XP Pro Web IDE and
finally I encountered it: the old but good WaveConverter Pro. Using this one
I reduced a giant *.wav (1.1MB) to 90K and the sound is playing just fine here!!.
I tried several compressors and converters and the best is really WaveConverter
Pro. I also evaluated here the new Winamp, a fine freeware, and this soft runs
simply fantastic on Windows XP. The first photo that you will see here is just
my Winamp (playing the "List of Schindler" while I work with my UltraEdit-32
V. 9.0a & Hyper Text Studio V. 4.05 on this nice Web IDE making and updating
dozens of pages...)

WaveConverter Pro installs fine, easy and smooth on Windows XP Pro: no problems, no troubleshootings, no bugs!! In order to compress a file you simply have to make a Job List and include in this list all files that you need reduce. I suggest that you use the option "MPEG Layer-3" in "Select Compression" menu:

In the next image here, made by my old but good registered Embellish (currently this soft is available for free because the developer shutdowned this project; I registered my Embellish OS/2 version in BMT Micro, with Thomas Bradford, and the Windows version with my merchant partner Beyond.com), you can see the conversion of 14 *.wav files at the same time; at left you see the original sizes and at right you can see the files compressed by WaveConverter Pro (incredible, but the result for a page loaded on the Net with one of these waves in background sound the quality is just the best!! (note that the amount of files was reduced from 2.6MB to 1.8MB - take a look at the bottom of Windows Commander):

IIf you are not sure about the importance of my personal opinion on the quality of these compressed *.wav files I recognize that I'm not an expert in musical files conversion, but I request that you considers that I was a trumpet player and studied years and years using a Calicchio in Sbemol trying to be like Miles Davis...

Finally in the screen captured
above you can see WaveConverter Pro processing the referred 14 files. I used
Version 3.1 (1997) for Windows Nt. If you are interested you can download the
most recent release of this this soft directly from the Developer's website,
