OS/2 - Henk Kelder Updates

WPTOOLS and ASSOEDIT

In Affiliation with Beyond.com

Henk Kelder was just updated both WPTOOLS and ASSOEDIT to overcome a problem reported by a user. Also, two new programs have been added to WPTOOLS:
- DEFASSOC a program to manipulate associations from the command line;

- GETOBJ a program to query object settings from the command line.

About WPTOOLS

WPTOOLS is a collection of OS/2 specific tools. Some tools in the archive are:

CHECKINI - Checks Workplace shell related stuff in the OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI, mainly intended to keep the INI-Files clean and (relatively small) and thus have the best performance while using the workplace Shell;
WPSBKP - Make a backup of most workplace shell objects in a text file. This text file can be used to restore a customised workplace shell after the desktop has be reinstalled or to port parts to another machine;
WPSREST - Restores a backup made with WPSBKP;
RESETWPS - Resets the workplace shell without rebooting;
WPTOOLS.DLL - A dynamic link library that, amongst other things, can be used from REXX to query object settings. This DLL is also used by WPSBKP to query object settings. As far as I know this is the only tool in the world to query setup strings.
DEFASSOC.EXE- Manipulate Associations from the command line
GETOBJ.EXE- Query object settings from the command line

New in WPTOOL27:

Received a report that CHECKINI totally messed up after X-Folder was installed. This was caused by the fact that CHECKINI's algoritm to determine the type of an (internal PS)handle was hard coded. Now CHECKINI determines the proper algoritme dynamically. Added two programs: DEFASSOC.EXE and GETOBJ.EXE

Both are available for free from Henk's home page
