Hello guys!
Today August 5, 1999 I concluded successfully the complete migration of my IDE
from Windows NT4 SP5 to Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3. I presented my first
bug report to Microsoft yesterday and now I' m working just fine here on my
new IDE. I tested here several Windows applications and some apps simply don't
install, as Fix-It99 from Mijenix, the ultimate tool for repair and maintenance
on Windows 32 bits platform. I' m very surprise with the IE5 browser automatically
installed by Win 2000 Pro: it simply runs three times more fast rather than
on NT4 SP5. One of the applications that are running really fine here is the
SemWare TSE32 Pro v. 2.80, editor in text mode that I use for code depuration
(including HTML). I' m informed that SemWare, softwarehouse
developer of the famous Qedit is working in new beta for TSE32 Pro, the most
powerful programmer's editor for 32 bits currently available. The new version
introduces special UNDO/REDO features and others enhancements. To visit
the SemWare web site simply click the SemWare logo above.
I noted that several applications for Windows 32 bits runs on Windows 2000 Professional
Beta 3 rather than on Windows NT4 SP5 and one of this applications is just the
TSE32 Pro
This week I intend test more applications on Windows 2000 Professional Beta
3. At the moment I' m working on final adjusts, including installation of some
peripherals, because the drivers are not upgraded by the developers for this
new platform. If you are using Iomega ZIPs note that the Iomegaware drivers
for NT runs only Windows NT 3.51 and Windows NT 4.0 releases. But I encourage
you to follow me in this migration: the Windows 2000 Professional performance
really improves productivity.
I noted that the NTFS5 has more stability that NTFS but can be more degraded
by high fragmentation. I' m solving this problem here using the built in Defrag
of Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3, built for manual operation (but can be
schedulled if you prefer). In the photo below you can see the high fragmentation
in the analysis graphic and the optimization in the other display.
