I installed, deinstalled and reinstalled successfully dozens of Windows 32 bits and 16 bits applications on my Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3 in the latest three days in order to test compatibilities and report results to Microsoft. Today Sunday August 08, 1999 I purged my Registry using Uninstallerer from Cybermedia, that runs really fine on this new platform.

Hi guys.
This Sunday I cleaned fine my Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3's Registry using
Uninstaller from Cybermedia. I tested dozens of applications on my new IDE,
including DOS programs, and my Registry was very increased. For this beta test
with Windows 200 I'm using a today modesty machine, Pentium 200 + 128MB EDO
RAM, in order to evaluate performances on unpretentious environment. In
the photo below you can see BOXER DOS programmer's editor from David Hamel running
just fine in the Windows 2000 console, that emulates DOS environment as a Windows
NT 4.0.

My Uninstaller from Cybermedia, version 5.01, purchased from Beyond.com (sincerely, I recommend it - is very good and not expensive, costs only $ 19,95 USD and you can buy it online now in my web site clicking the Beyond.com banner that you can see in this page) runs fine on Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3 and it eliminated 237 illegal entries in the Registry. The new Registry Editor built in by Microsoft was improved and now have the bookmarks facility. But I personally prefer Resplendent Registrar and I just backuped my Registry using it and you can see this task being performed in the photo below:

I'm surprised because some users says me that. Windows 2000 don't runs DOS applications. I'm running just fine here all DOS applications I've installed on this new platform and have not any problem at this time. In my opinion Microsoft was performed a fine release and the new Registry is almost perfect. Registry Editor is an advanced tool for changing settings in your system registry, which contains information about how your computer runs. Generally, it is best to allow Windows 2000 programs to modify the system registry, and to avoid making changes using the Registry Editor. While the new version of Registry Editor is easier to use because of its Explorer-style interface, Windows 2000 also supports the previous version of Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe). This version provides access to Windows 2000 security permissions and auditing.
