Hi All.
I just tested at this Monday November 15, 1999, Adobe PageMill web editor on
my Windows 2000 Professional. This fine release runs perfectly on Win 2000!
PageMill 3.0 combines advanced features for web content creation with powerful
site management capabilities, allowing you to manage your Web links, search-and-replace
across your site, and more, all in an intuitive environment. The Try-Out version
of PageMill 3.0 includes full online documentation. Once you have launched PageMill
3.0 Try-Out, choose Help > Contents.The full version of PageMill 3.0 also
includes a CD full of powerful tools and rich content, including Adobe Photoshop
LE and more than 10,000 ready-to-use images, sounds, Java Applets, ShockWave
animations, and more!

KNOWN ISSUES WITH PAGEMILL
3.0 TRY-OUT VERSION
Animated GIFs with per-frame transparency
An animated GIF file saved with per-frame transparency (for example,
from Adobe Premiere) may not display correctly in PageMill Preview mode. The
image is displayed correctly in Microsoft® Internet Explorer Preview mode
or in a browser.
Display problems in the Image window
If an image is displayed incorrectly in the Image window, check that
your computer is using the latest video driver available from its manufacturer.
Not using the latest video driver is one of the most common causes for
incorrect-looking images and colors. Most video card manufacturers let
you download updated drivers from their Web sites.
Dragging transparent GIFs
Copying or dragging a transparent GIF from some applications (such
as Internet Explorer and Adobe Photoshop) and pasting or dropping it on a PageMill
page places the GIF file without its transparency. You can open the image
in the Image window and reapply the transparency if you want. Dragging
from Netscape Navigator into a PageMill page retains the image's transparency.
Dragging URLs from Eudora
You can drag text from a message in Eudora 3.0 and drop it into a
PageMill page. However, when you drag a URL from Eudora, it is copied
as text into a PageMill page, not as a link.
Filenames on Novell Servers
Novell file servers sometimes provide incorrect filename information
to applications (such as PageMill). This is especially true when accessing remote
folders that contain files with only "8.3" filenames. If you need
to access files on a Novell server, copy them locally or rename at least one
file in your site to have a long filename (one that uses more than 8 characters
in its name or more than 3 characters in its extension).
You may be unable to rename folders using the PageMill site-management features when accessing a Novell server in a prerelease version of Windows 98. (This is due to a case-sensitivity issue in the registry entry settings in some pre-release versions of Windows 98.) If you encounter this problem with the final, shipping version of Windows 98, check the PageMill online support database for up-to-date information. (Adobe Systems does not support PageMill running under a prerelease operating system.)

Inserting PDF files
When you insert a PDF file in a Web page using the PDF ActiveX control,
the PDF thumbnail appears using the settings that the PDF file used in Adobe
Acrobat. For example, if the PDF file was saved in Acrobat with the view
option set to Fit Page, it's inserted that way as well in PageMill. You
can adjust the open settings in Acrobat by choosing File > Document Info
> Open.
Inserting Tab characters
When you press Tab, PageMill inserts a space character instead of
inserting a tab. To simulate tabs in text, insert multiple nonbreaking
spaces (press Control+Space) or first format the text in the Preformatted format
and then insert multiple spaces. To insert a nonbreaking space on a Japanese
system, be sure you are working in ASCII encoding before pressing Control+Space.
Japanese filenames and folder names
When working on a Japanese system, avoid using double-byte characters
or single-byte (half-width) katakana for filenames or folder names. Doing so
might cause errors when you create links to these files or folders.
Previewing form objects in Internet Explorer
If you insert a password field, a text field, or a text area on a
Web page and preview that page in Internet Explorer mode, you won't be able
to type sample text in the fields. This is an Internet Explorer preview
problem only; the page works as expected when displayed in PageMill Preview
mode or when opened in Navigator or the full version of Internet Explorer.

Proxy settings
If you are using PageMill in a corporate environment that has a firewall
between you and the rest of the Internet, make sure you set the correct proxy
information in the Internet control panel. (From the windows desktop, choose
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet, and then click the Connection
tab.) Otherwise, PageMill may be unable to verify external URLs. Ask your
system administrator for what the proxy setting should be.
If your computer does not have an Internet control panel, install Internet Explorer from the PageMill CD. This will add the Internet control panel.
Searching in Japanese
When working on a Japanese system, you can search for double-byte
characters and replace them with single-byte ones (or vice versa) by choosing
Search > Find and then choosing Transliterate from the Find pop-up menu.
When working in HTML source mode, Transliterate is not available.
Selecting more than a page of text
If you need to select text that's off the screen, dragging over the
window edge autoscrolls the window and extends the selection. However, if you
then use the scrollbars to go back to the top of the page, you may find that
you can't drag the selection anymore. Dragging the selection from the
bottom of the window instead of from the top solves the problem.
Switching to multiple versions of Navigator
Because the executable filenames for Netscape Navigator version 3
and version 4 are the same, you cannot set up both of them in the Switch To
menu of PageMill. If you need to view a file in different versions of
Navigator, you can run one version from the Switch To menu and start another
from the Windows Start menu.
Targeting a link to New Window
If you target a link to New Window and preview that link in Internet
Explorer mode, the link opens another instance of Internet Explorer, instead
of displaying the linked page or object in a separate window within the same
instance of Internet Explorer.
To prevent accidental removal of data, the uninstall program does not clear out all PageMill folders and may leave some files behind such as shortcuts you may have created to the PageMill application. For complete removal, inspect the PageMill 3.0 folder and delete any unwanted files and folders still there.

Uploading
The uploader feature in PageMill is not designed to let you browse
the directory structure of the site you're uploading to. If you're unsure
what the correct path is for uploading, ask your webmaster or your ISP for that
information. You can also use a general FTP utility to browse the directory
structure of the remote server.
Uploading Java applets
Some applets use multiple .class files. If your site contains
Java applets, make sure all the .class files associated with the applet are
within the local root folder. PageMill tracks the top-level .class file
but may not recognize that an additional .class file is missing when it uploads
the site if the .class file is stored outside the local root folder.
Uploading nested folders
If you've set up Uploader settings for a site and then choose to
upload a folder within that site, PageMill uses the settings for the site as
a whole. If you want to use a different set of Uploader settings for the
single folder, you should create a site for it alone and then define upload
settings for it.
Using Internet Explorer
PageMill 3.0 Try-Out has been extensively tested with Internet Explorer
3.0 and 4.0. Using earlier versions of Internet Explorer (for example,
setting up Internet Explorer 2.0 on the Switch To menu) is not recommended.
I @Macarlo tested it using Internet Explorer 5.0 and runs fine.
Working with <!--SELECTION--> comment tags
PageMill keeps your cursor position constant between Source and Edit
modes by using a special <!--SELECTION--> comment tag. When you choose
View > Source Mode, PageMill generates selection comment tags before and
after whatever you had selected in Edit mode. If nothing was selected, the two
comments appear side-by-side at the location in the HTML that corresponds to
the cursor's position in Edit mode. While working in Source mode, you do not
need to move or delete these tags; PageMill automatically removes them when
you switch back into Edit mode. By default, these tags are not written into
your saved HTML files; they appear only onscreen.
