Hi, folks.
Yesterday I changed the HDD for Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3. I discovered
that this new OS runs really fine only in HDDs ultra DMA and for correct NTFS5
operation Pentium 300 or above is required. Now I'm using FAT and running fine!
I replaced the modest Western Digital Caviar 2,5GB by a Maxtor 6,4GB. After
this chages I tested dozens of applications, as Object Control Center from Stardock
- runs fine!!! - and this old and good Describe for Windows NT that you can
see in this screenshot below:

This Describe was sent to me as a gift by an
OS/2 user and guru for all OS called Renee Senger and during long time I used
only this word processor for write my reports on OS/2 and Windows. Now I installed
it on my Windows 2000 Professional Beta 3 and I verified that runs simply marvelous
on this new platform.
All the applications whose icons you can see on my desktop in the screenshots
that is here are running absolutely fine on my Windows 2000 Professional Beta
3. I tested today also the new FileJet from Frank Klosek (I'm registered user)
and runs fine. FileJet is a file manager, viewer and editor that have the ability
of run also from a 1,44 diskette in OS/2, DOS, Windows 95/98/NT4 and in Windows
2000. You can see it running fine in the photo below.

Well, but I yet have problems here and the principal is that Windows 2000 simply don't accept the IomegaWare and I can't install my ZIP Drive 100MB parallel port that in NT4 SP5 runs fine installed as a SCSI device. In the photo below you can see the IomegaWare refused by Windows 2000 at last Saturday:

Today Thursday August 12, 1999 I accessed my Windows 2000 Professional Beta from my Server NT4 SP5 in order to transfer files to my new IDE and when I tried boot the Maxtor with Win 2000 where is it? <Press any key to reboot> is the message received! I pressed any key, rebooted and the message is displayed once again! Fortunatelly I'm registered user of PowerBoot from Blue Sky innovations and I simply installed it on this HDD in order to recover my boot. I rebooted and PowerBoot started my Windows 2000. Here is a good and interesting tip. Are you lost your boot on Windows 2000 because you was accessed it from a Server? Simply install PowerBoot, man...
