APC has been supportive of OS/2 for several years now even
using it
for its annual ISP testing upto this year. Below is the intro from the web
page.
Those familiar with Mac OS or Windows 95/98 should feel right at home with OS/2
-- a complete 32-bit operating system (except for its built-in
Windows support). Programs are handled in their own memory space, which increases
system stability by dramatically decreasing the chances of memory leaks and
system crashes. OS/2 has native OpenDOC, OpenGL, DOS, Windows and Java support
built into the kernel. OS/2 uses the High Performance File System (HPFS), which
is more efficient that FAT16, FAT32 or VFAT. It also features VoiceType, a native
built-in voice recognition utility that works with every OS/2 program you use,
not just your word processor. Many hardware configurations are supported, with
a massive array of device drivers included, and more available through the Internet.
OS/2 has an object-orientated GUI -- all programs, files, folders, drives
and peripherals are treated as objects that the user can manipulate. Many applications
and utilities are now available for OS/2, including fully functional office
suites, Internet and multimedia utilities, and
programming interfaces. OS/2 includes a built-in programming language
called REXX, which allows you to script OS/2 functions. Download VisualREXX
to create free GUI applications.
It will interesting to see if anyone actually installs it
