The new ASTRAC Visualizer v5 for OS/2 brings some of the most significant enhancements seen during the products 10-year history. With V5 you have Simultaneous Dual Currencies allowing easy migration of your Reports etc, a Centralised exchange rate table for easy maintenance, while at the same time having these powerful new facilities all available in your own Visualizer applications.
With the huge success of Lotus Notes/Domino and the ever increasing integration of the Internet in day to day business, the new interfaces in Visualizer V5 enable you to provide your critical Reports and business data to Notes and Web users. With Visualizer V5 you can produce Reports and Charts on your Lotus Notes data, even publish your Visualizer Reports to Notes users on Windows NT and other platforms. With the new HTML, RTF and GIF formats you have Web ready output. New Drag and drop retype of Visualizer objects allows easy use of Visualizer objects via e-mail etc.
With Visualizer V5 and the latest releases of DB2 you now have even better integration between your DB2 databases and Visualizer. Visualizer V5 has a new interface using the UDB API. This brings support for DB2 Large Objects for photo's etc.
The size of result and Visualizer tables has been increased from 250,000 to 1000,000,000 rows (one thousand million). The dramtic performance improvements in V5 when working with large tables make processing a million rows a minute possible.

ASTRAC has developed a new Visualizer product for personal use based on the
recently announced Visualizer Version 5 for OS/2
It has some restrictions on the data it can access, but is otherwise a fully-functional
edition of Visualizer for OS/2.
As it is marketed and intended for personal use, the interfaces to external
data, such as Lotus Notes, AS/400, and mainframe MVS and VM products are disabled.
Visualizer VPE/2 is intended to be used with local DB2/2 data or with native
format Visualizer tables.

V5PE/2 is intended to be downloaded, and so is divided into three packages.

All these packages are available from ASTRAC, via FTP from our site at ftp.astrac.com You will need a licence key to run Vis PE, which you can buy at www.bmtmicro.com and VISPE is also available from this site.
V5PE/2 is a supported product, to the extent that we'll accept and reply to complaints, and fix bugs. However, it's our corporate customers who fund development of Visualizer, so requests for enhancement may go unheeded unless we think it's actually a rather good idea.
Each package is a ZIP file built by InfoZip. Make a directory, and unzip the zip file into it. Do this for each package that you want to install. If necessary, explain to your unzipper that you want to retain the directory structure, which is the default with InfoZip but not with PkWare. The result is an image of the Visualizer CD, and you must then run the product installation process.
The CD image contains:
QUERY must be installed first, and all the others are optional. Each of these components is represented by a directory, and each directory contains all the code and an INSTALL.CMD, which can be run from the command line or from a directory viewer.
Once the product has been installed, the CD image directories can be deleted, but keep the package ZIPs in case you need to install more components. If you want to upgrade from Personal Edition to the full product, you will need:
