Sun and Origin Establish
Joint Agreement for
Global Strategic
Alliance on SAP Integration
PALO ALTO, CA- Sun Microsystems, Inc.,
and the Global
SAP Practice of ORIGIN International, a division of the global
systems
integrator ORIGIN B.V., today signed a Joint Marketing Agreement
to join
efforts in providing customers with enhanced solutions to the
integration of full
information technology services with computer networking products.
The first
step of this agreement is a strategic marketing alliance on
the SAP integration
market.
"This strategic alliance allows us to leverage Sun technology
in key vertical
industries by managing all conditions of the sales cycle. It
will enable Origin and
Sun to deliver overall solutions and shorten the sales cycle
and project
implementation, said Timothy Dwyer, Vice President, Global
Sales Operations
for Sun Microsystems Computer Systems. By leveraging our respective
strengths, both parties can jointly increase market penetration,
generate
incremental revenue and reduce costs."
This non-exclusive strategic alliance supports the realization
of a joint global
SAP strategy by enabling Origin and Sun to deliver, in conjunction
with SAP
AG, any required Total Enterprise Solution to their common
customers. Origin s
and Sun will develop mutually-beneficial marketing programs,
share technical
and consultancy support, and launch educational programs to
communicate with
clients and potential clients. The alliance brings together
Origin's strengths in
providing full and global IT services and products and Sun's
strengths in the
development, manufacturing and distribution of computing network
products
worldwide.
The objectives and benefits of this alliance are very clear
to both parties. Origin
and Sun have mutually aggressive growth strategies in the SAP
marketplace
necessitating the streamlining of the sales cycle," said
John Le Rossignol,
Origin's Global SAP Practice Director. He continues, Additionally,
the
increased demand for rapid implementations have led Origin
and Sun to provide
the customer with the possibility for even faster implementation
times as a result
of our close relationship."
Recently, Origin and Sun have successfully cooperated in a
large project for an
SAP R/3 implementation in the United States. Building on this
and other
positive experiences worldwide, the two companies aim to strengthen
this joint
alliance. In 1997, Sun received the SAP Award of Excellence,
based on a
independent survey, commissioned by SAP, of customer satisfaction
with the
SAP installed base.
