MicroEdge, Inc. Announces Visual
SlickEdit© v4.0 for UNIX and OS/2
MicroEdge, Inc., the provider of award-winning, multi- platform development tools,
today announced the release of Visual SlickEdit v4.0 for UNIX and OS/2. This follows
closely behind the release of Visual SlickEdit v4.0 for Windows and Visual SlickEdit
for OS/390, earlier this quarter. Visual SlickEdit is a multi-platform programmer's
editor that improves the quality and productivity of software development to meet
the needs of corporate developers.
"Our release of Visual SlickEdit v4.0 introduces new capabilities which set
it further ahead of other programmer's editors," states Clark Maurer, Chief
Technology Officer at MicroEdge, Inc. "We strive to stay on the cutting edge
by providing powerful features not available in other development tools."
"With the release of Visual SlickEdit v4.0 for UNIX and OS/2, we are reinforcing
our continued support to serve the corporate customer," explains Bryan Weisinger,
Vice President of Sales and Marketing for MicroEdge, Inc. "Now available on
Windows, UNIX, OS/2 and OS/390, Visual SlickEdit represents the only tool that offers
a multi-platform environment to manage code across the entire enterprise."
New Visual SlickEdit v4.0 Features, now available for
UNIX and OS/2
Context Tagging_ -The Context Tagging feature set performs expression type,
scope, and inheritance analysis. Built on Visual SlickEdit's powerful tagging facility,
Context Tagging features work with your source code, not just standard APIs. The
Context Tagging feature set includes: Auto List Members, Auto Function Help and
Context Tag Navigation and Preview.
DIFFzilla_ - DIFFzilla is Visual SlickEdit's set of file differencing tools. It
is used to merge changes from one version of a file to another, or help you determine
what changes have been made to a file. Using the DIFFzilla dialog box, you can
difference two files, or two source trees. Dynamic Difference Editing_, one of
DIFFzilla's file differencing tools, color codes intra-line differences even as
you type. No longer do you have to edit two files independently. Visual SlickEdit's
file differencing tool set maintains the synchronization of both files and lets
you edit either file while in diff mode. Syntax expansion, SmartPaste and undo
are all supported by the file differencing tool set.
FTP Support - Visual SlickEdit's FTP support includes a complete FTP client and
the ability to transparently open and save remote files. Users can conveniently
upload and download files with out ever leaving Visual SlickEdit.
PL/SQL and Transact SQL Language Support - Both PL/SQL and Transact SQL are supported
by Visual SlickEdit v4.0, providing the most comprehensive SQL language support
on the market. Special support includes: SmartPaste_, syntax expansion, syntax
indenting, auto keyword casing, procedure tagging, selective display of functions,
and color coding.
