OS/2 Warp
have a new word processor, Papyrus, developed in Germany, also for Windows. Actually
Papyru's developers - Logicware Soft-
& Hardware GmbH - from Berlin,
have available for trying by OS/2 users a demo of version 6.15 (pap6d0s2.exe,
2,034Mb), only in german language. This word processor works with hypertext
and voice. You can get it from Pete Norloff's BBS, like me, or directly from
the developer's Web Site, where exist version 6.19 available, at:
http://www.rom-logicware.com/
I, @Macarlo, tested Papyrus sucessfully in my OS/2 Warp 4.0 and I'm running
it just fine!
Well, read the developer's explanation:
"Sorry, our English page is under construction intensively. I expect us
to have finished the translation of papyrus for all operating systems - OS/2,
TOS, WIN95/98/NT - till end of this month (no, I won't say "I told you
end of this month"in September again - it's August while I am writing this
;-)).
The program itself already is translated, the even before mighty papyrus online
help has grown to a complete manual in chapters with special explanations in
main themes, that are not related only to a special dialog box.
And this - this new mighty online help - is, what we are translating at the
moment; four German guys speaking English as well (or as bad ;-)) as I do (I'm
one of that four) are doing the first step; and three native "Englishmen"
are giving our somewhat "Germish" ;-) the finetuning and will change
that into
"real" English.
So you can expect a ready-to-buy papyrus - as I said above - end of August.
It will come as an email attachement via internet, size about 3MB (yes, I said
three Megabyte, not Gigabyte or so).
What did you say? Yes, I know, you don't believe in that 3MB (in real the program
itself is 1.5 MB, the rest is filters, demodocs, ...) - or papyrus can't be
a good program?
Yeah, I heard this several thousand times - but I also heard several thousand
totally astonished "Wow! It is not only easier to use, but also MIGHTIER
than ..."I have to stop here, we're not allowed to make comparing ad's
in Germany.
Nobody believes a complete word processor with spreadsheets included, desktop
publishing, hypertext facilities including HTML, voice enabled (in combination
with IBM's ViaVoice / VoiceType) fits into that size - before having had a look
on P A P Y R U S .
The price will be 99 US-$ - I think that's a fair price compared to a value
of a that well proofed and mighty as well as easy to use program (don't argue
with the size, please.
Payment will be via VISA or Diners (not very well known in UK or the States,
huh?) - Mastercard is somehow difficult to get in Europe (if you are a ten year
old software company with good bank informations. If you're a brand new pizzeria
on the next corner, Mastercard will accept you immediately .
If you want to be informed when we are ready and the demo versions (and the
full version, too, of course ;-)) are available, give us a short email to R.O.M.
logicware, and I'll put you onto our information list. No, I won't sell it to
whomever might be interested in papyrus interested people.
OK, that's it for the moment, translation's waiting - till later this month;
and sorry for bad English, the translation will be much better than this here."
