Many OS/2 users mailing lists are publishing this invitation today September 18, 1999. Yesterday IBM decided not agree to the Stardock plan for revitalize the OS/2 Client, orphaned by the new OS/2 release, called Warp Server for e-business.

This brief note and call to action is not a happy one.

As many of you may know, IBM for approximately the past six months has been
considering allowing a third party (Stardock) publish and market an "OEM" version of
the "FAT" OS/2 Client.

A decision has been made to NOT allow Stardock or anyone else for the
matter take on such a product.

I will let you read Brad Wardell's note publicly announcing this decision at:

######

After you have read this note, I encourage everyone who has a deep interest
in the survival of OS/2, and a few moments of  time to spare; that you
share your well worded thoughts with IBM's top brass.

To do this, use the following link -
http://www.ibm.com/scripts/email-lvg.pl

If this link fails here is how to manually navigate to the "E-Mail Lou"
page:

+ Go to http://www.ibm.com
+ Select "About IBM" from the link at the top of the page
+ Select "Lou's Page" from the link right underneath Lou Gerstner's picture

+ Select "Send E-Mail" from the navigation frame on the left

To give more credibility, I encourage all of you to fill out all of the
personal information (Address, phone #, etc.).

My thoughts to IBM regarding this matter follows this brief note to you.

The only hope for an OS/2 client is to show IBM a gross miscalculation of
the number of IBM customers throughout the world who have come to rely on
IBM's premiere desktop operating system, OS/2.

The second thing you can do, is to make sure that at least five (5) people
you know whom have not done the same already, do take the time express
their thoughts.  As the saying goes, there is strength in numbers.

Thank you for your time.

All the best.

Mr. Gerstner:

It is with great disappointment that I write you this brief note.

I am one of the many loyal OS/2 users who were, with great hope, waiting for
IBM to make a decision.

As a loyal IBM customer, both personally and professionally, I must express
my profound disappointment in your decision not to allow a more than
capable third party (Stardock), to invest in an IBM created product, with a
target market that IBM has abandoned and does not have expertise
in dealing with.

Contrary to what you may believe, there are many enthusiastic IBM customers
all over the world who benefit on a daily basis from OS/2, one of your
company's best products of all time.

I simply hope that in the near future you reconsider, and reverse your
decision.

Thank you for this moment of your valuable time.

Very truly yours,
