How to Optimize
Works on Warp Click here to see Warp 3.0 running
CHKDSK /f on Warp 4.0>@@@

Are you seeking a substitute for Windows NT 5.0? Well, I have
the right OS: Warp. I'm registered user of 188 OS/2 programs, my desktop is full
of objects, I works connected on the Net with 20 or much more heavy applets running
at some time and I never, never, never crashes! I'm beta tester and I'm bombed everyweek
by dozens of betas!
Well, man, the Blue Screen of Dead is not for me!
To optimize my work on Warp I have two versions running on my Pentium 200 with 128Mb
RAM, three IDE ports and SCSI peripherals connected trhough Adaptec AHA 2940AU.
Actually I have four large capacity IDE HDDS, two CD_ROM drives, three virtual disks
enabled, Iomega ZIP Drive connected on parallel port and much more!
In my first master HDD I'm running actually OS/2 Warp 4.0 + FP6, on HPFS partition
and his swap resides on other separate partition, also formated in HPFS (also swaper.dat
of Warp 3.0 is in separate partition). In the same first master I have Windows98,
Windows NT 4.0, MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11 and Linux Red Hat kernel 2.0.30. In my
second master HDD, on the second IDE onboard port, I have OS/2 Warp 3.0 + FP36.
Both Warp, 4.0 and 3.0 are running fine Java 1.1.6 and Netscape Navigator 2.02,
Netscape Communicator 4.04 Beta 2, HotJava Browser 1.1.4, IBM WebExplorer and WebNavigator
2.1. On Warp 3.0 I have not Windows emulation, only DOS support. On Warp 4.0 I use
Windows 3.11 and running also Opera Browser 2.2.1.
I works everyday on my two Warps and use Warp 3.0 to run CHKDSK /f on Warp 4.0 during
downloads/uploads (10 or much more at some time) with Warp 3.0. At some time I make
reports with DeScribe 5.0, make images with Embellish (and now with TrueSpectra
Photo>Graphics Pro) and make HTML pages with Home Page Publisher & Boxer
(also I use HTML Studio). On Warp 4.0 I do some works and running CHKDSK /f on Warp
3.0. On Warp 4.0 I have my java IDE (IBM VisualAge for Java) and my REXX IDE (GPF,
from JBC), and Pascal IDE (I'm using TMT Compiler). The only IDE I have on Windows
is the C++ (NT 4.0).
Well, as I told I never crashe and in the last two years I not reinstall any Warp
in my machine! In this period I reinstall Windows NT 20 times or more and Windows
95 and nows Windows 98 other 20 times or more, because his irrecoverables crashes!
Both my Warps partitions are entire backupeds with Obackup and the Obackdats are
stored on CDs. I have also Obackdats stored on FAT partitions.
My Warp 3.0 have virtual desktops using PC/2 from NetLabs, use XFolder 0.61 Beta
an is monitored by PM Patrol and Control+Alt+Del Commander 2.52 from PCS and WatchCat
at some time (no problems, no conflicts!). On my Warp 4.0 I use Object Desktop Professional
1.5.2, Watch Cat and CAD Commander; XFolder Beta 0.71 and Smart Windows 0.81 Beta.
On both Warps I use Swap Monitor, TaskBar from Rick Yoder, InJoy 2.0 beta and Ilink/2.
Now I'm going to try Process Commander from Stardock, because Brad saids to me it
is the natural sucessor of WatchCat..
Well, my unique problem in the last days is I have a 32X IDE CD-ROM, which was working
just fine, using the Warp 4.0 IDE CD-ROM driver, connected on third IDE port (Creative
Labs sound card connector). Last week, it stopped. It doesn't appear on the drives
folder, and the system can't detect it's presence. But the problem was solved with
the help of members of the Hardware List of The OS/2 Supersite (hardware@os2ss.com).
I enable the full hardware detection in the notebook of the Hardware Manager.
I can t works with buged OSs as Windows 98 and Windows NT because I am old man,
lives in Brazil like eremite and have not much time to work on computers bugs.
This is my experience and I'm very happy with my Warps. Substitute for Windows NT?
I have two OSs: Warp 4.0 and Warp 3.0.
