 Hi, All.
Opera Software redesigned this week his web site and is announcing the free download of a fully functional release 5.0 of Opera Browser for Windows. I'm supporting Opera since his first beta and registered it in BMT Micro, Inc., for my OS/2 Warp (the version 16 bits for Windows that runs fine on WinOS2. Note: The full version of Opera is now available for free in an ad-sponsored version. Registered users will not see ads. The registration cost is $39. The upgrade from Opera 4.0 for Windows is free. I rated this new Opera at the maximum here: Five Butterflies:

Opera browser 5.0 offers two choices: Java Enabled (9.3 MB) and Non-Java, the most popular (only 2MB). I downloaded the Java Enabled and you can see the Java install on my Windows 2000 workstation in the photo above.

I tested all web browsers currently available on the Net in Windows 32 and 16 environment, including OS/2 Warp and Linux. I experienced some problems with Microsoft Internet Explorer (for me the best!) and I'm scared with Netscape (for me deceased an buried after this melancholic version 6.0). Sincerely, I'm exhaust with these browsers! But if exist a decent, professional, efficient, reliable, fast, little and charismatic browser for all users it is Opera!! In the photo below you can see Opera 5.0 loading my main-page:

Are you a professional, man? Are you working on the Net everyday, loading at some time several complicated or sophisticated web pages? Are you seeking for functionality? In this case I recommend: use Opera...and use this fine version 5.0 on Windows 2000 environment. I tested it during hours today December 6, 2000 on my Win 2000 Pro Web IDE and I'm perfectly satisfied!

Opera 5.0 sees perfectly all forms and tables generated by the ultimate web editors like Macromedia Dreamweaver and Hot Dog Professional 6x. With Java Enabled (running the latest Sun's Java 1.3x) Opera 5.0 loads quickly and smooth all Java applets. I visited some Java Applet web sites in order to test this new Opera and you can see it running a 3D applet on Anfy page:
