![]()
Oslo, Norway - 24 July 1999 - Opera Software today unveiled screen shots
and updates on three Opera versions nearing completion. The Mac-Opera, Epoc-Opera,
and Be-Opera ports of the popular browser Opera are all nearing release. These
initiatives will streamline HTML viewing and provide a fast, small-footprint,
flexible browser to the Mac, Epoc and Be communities.
"We noted an increased interest
in the porting of Opera to other platforms and as a result have put more effort
into those ports thus speeding up the expected progress" said Jon S. von
Tetzchner Opera's CEO and co-founder. "We are happy to release a sneak
peek of how each port shows in its near-beta stage."
About Mac-Opera "We're close to beta release and the
main part of the program is working very well and are now concentrating on the
finer details" said Knut Skagen one of the lead developers of Mac-Opera.
About Be-Opera Rikard GilleMyr of the Beos Developer Team
gives us this short but compact message: "We have most of the application
in place, and we plan to go into public beta very soon."
About Epoc-Opera "The browser has been moved up to EPOC
Release 5 SDK. We are busy trying to get an official beta release out to our
volunteer beta-testers" stated Keith Hollis the lead programmer of Epoc-Opera.
"We are also moving the code base from version 3.0 to 3.6 inline with the
latest Windows version which will form this first EPOC release."
