Opera Software just released version 3.60 beta 3 of Opera browser for Windows 32 and 16 bits. I, @Macarlo, Opera registered user, downloaded it today March 22 and tested it on my Windows NT 4.0. The performance of this new Opera outpaces all other browsers I have here: MS Explorer (and Neoplanet), Netscape Communicator and HotJava.

Recently I deleted Opera from my machine because I have several browsers running just fine here and I suppose I need Opera for nothing. I'm using here everyday Neoplanet, because the advanced design, the funcionality and the enhanced e-mail client, just the more efficient I have on Windows NT 4.0. But I downloaded this Monday march 22, 1999 the new beta of Opera, version 3.60 (o360e32.exe, 1.24MB), tested it and see that this new Opera outpaces all other browsers I've here!

What is the advantage of Opera/ I think that is the high speed! Working on the Net I need a very fastly browser that don't suicides on Java applets. I need a browser really secure for downloads as a FTP. And I need a browser as Lynx, with not images loading option. I tested several browser on my Windows NT 4.0, where actually I.m working in interactivity with Windows 98, Linux Red Hat 5.2, OS/2 Warp 4.0 and OS/2 Warp 3.0.

I tested all browsers I',ve there, icluding the StarBrowser, and here is my ranking:

In first Opera 3.60b3 - The most fast and secure. Never suicides. Perfectly FTP

In second StarBrowser (Hava problems to see correctly some codes)

In third Netscape Communicator (Have problems with Java applets)

In fourth Explorer as Neoplanet (hava serious problems for downloads as a FTP)

In fifth HotJava

I made not a table with accurate technical data about this comparative teste because I have not precision tools here. I use a simply chronometer and the results to load a HTML page with 16 gifs are:

Opera 3.60b3 –------ 15 seconds (Load images enabled)

StarBrowser –-------- 25 seconds

Neoplanet------------ 40 seconds

Netscape –----------- 58 seconds

HotJava-------------- 82 seconds
