Netscape Outpaces Explorer on NT 4.0

by @Macarlo

I just tested on Windows NT4 SP4 the latest Microsoft's browser, Internet Explorer 5, and the latest Netscape browser, Communicator 4.51. Netscape is the winner.

I @Macarlo just released here on NT4 SP4 a comparative test with two most recent web browsers available on the Net: Microsoft Explorer 5 and Netscape Communicator 4.51. Netscape is the winner in all features but Explorer is the most fast. But IE5 can't see flash animations if you don't download the Flash Plugin and simple crashes on web sites using this new technology (foto above) as Elton Mark's web site (EHNet, Inc. Internet Services,California, <http://www.goelton.com>).

Recently I crashed on Windows NT with Service Pack 4 bombed by virus but I reinstalled my NT, copyed the entire HDD to other as a backup and now I'm running just fine here. I downloaded Internet Explorer 5 from Microsoft web site with Active Setup (18MB) and decided make it my default browser for surfing and communications. Really the new Outlook Express is suck, is the most fast email client I see in my life on the Net! I'm using also here Neoplanet 2.1 (the most recent official version) and downloaded also the ultimate model, the alpha release called Technology Preview, that is Neoplanet 5.0.The other big browser I was using here is the Netscape Communicator 4.03, just the version packed as a gift in Matrox Millenium CD. I'm using it because my web site have many OS/2 users visitants using Netscape Communicator 4.04 by IBM. To make home pages here I'm using Boxer and SemWare TSE32 Pro v2.80b embedded on IDE with StarEdit that generates a new code. This HTML is the most recent technology but have some problems, as generates tables that Comm/4 can't see correctly. Only IE4, IE5 and Opera 3.51 and 3.60 b3 can see correctly this pages and -obviously, the StarBrowser. Because this problem I test all pages I made here calling two browsers: IE5 and Netscape. This week, talking with ASP members, those members indicated me WebExpress 3.0 from Microvision Development, Inc. as the solution and I decided try it. Yeahhh, man, with this editor from MVD I really solved the problem! Well, yesterday I decided visit Elton Marks ' web site because he has been migrated to new web technology and I will go quickly see his code. I was very happy here with my powerfull Internet Explorer 5, the fastest web browser that I know but I simple crashes with it on Elton's web site. The IE5 have not built-inthe necessary plugin to see flash features and Elton's site ask me if I want download his flash feature, 107KB. I answer yes and just the download is finished the IE5 crashes, suiciding with a Dr. Watson's banner displayed informing that an error was made in memory access (the famous GPF using other name, hehehe). Talking with Elton he saids me that the new Netscape have not this problem because incorporates the flash plugin. I'm moved quickly to NetCenter and downloaded Communicator 4.51 without Smart Update. Fortunatelly I'm Get Right registered user! Netscape server was desconeccted me 17 times during the download of 14,7MB (cc32e451.exe). Finally, after three hours the file is here and I installed it quickly! Hiho, man, just I installed this new Netscape I see that IE5 is not the best! The new Communicator that I made now my default browser is not fast as IE5 to load pages on the Net but is much more efficient! Using Netscape Communicator 4.51 I accessed quickly the Elton's web site and can see the new animations with fantastic flash technology effects made with Macromedia Dreamweawer (I downloaded the trial copy of Dreamweawer 2.01 today to test it and just updated this web site using it but at the end of the job Dreamweawer was crashed and I used WebExpress 3.0 to correct the faillures generated). Returning at the theme of this report Netscape Communicator have also Real Player and Instant Messenger for AOL with separate objects on desktop and have an enhanced mail client that is much more efficient than Outlook Express (it looks like PMMail!). I was using @Macarlo's Snap as my home on Neoplanet and MSN as my home on IE5, both customized and enhanced. Just I installed Netscape 4.51 this one has been replaced all of my home in Neoplanet and IE5 by NetCenter (hehehehe.....).
