COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

Transaction Information Systems Receives Authorized Java Center Status and Continues to Offer Innovative
Integration and Consulting Services.

NEW YORK - Sun Microsystems, Inc. today
announced that the New York-based Transaction Information
Systems, Inc. (TIS) FLITE laboratory has been named as an
Authorized JavaSM CenterSM service location, a facility that will aid
financial services firms in developing enterprise applications based
on Sun's flexible JavaTM platform. This newest addition to Sun's
Authorized Java Center program will allow financial services
companies to take advantage of TIS' integration and consulting
services and explore TIS product offerings, including its Java
technology-based HumanActiveTM NetCollaboration software
product also announced here at the SIA 98 Technology
Management Conference this week.

In addition, TIS has announced the company is opening a San
Francisco- based facility in early July, which will provide Java
consulting services and will offer Authorized Java Center services
in the near future.

TIS first opened its FLITE laboratory on Wall Street in September
of 1997 to aid Fortune 500 companies in developing electronic
commerce and other interactive applications. TIS qualified as an
Authorized Java Center service location because of its proven track
record in delivering distributed object and Java technologies to
leading financial institutions.

"TIS has an outstanding reputation as a 'change agent' for
technological innovation with Wall Street firms and other financial
institutions in the United States," said Raymond Tellalian,
northeastern area vice president for Sun Microsystems. "Sun's
financial services customers will benefit from the availability of TIS'
consulting and integration services, helping them to harness the
latest technology advancements to set themselves apart from their
competitors."

TIS joins a rapidly growing number of Authorized Java Center
service locations worldwide. Each center offers experts trained to
help companies find a safe and easy way to achieve wide-scale
deployment of Java Computing in the enterprise. Sun's Authorized
Java Center program provides a clear and flexible path that brings
the benefits of Java Computing directly to companies through a
wide range of services from Sun and third party business alliances.

Improving the Broker-Customer Relationship

TIS recently drew upon its Java expertise and is helping OLDE
Discount Stockbrokers establish a common visual workspace using
its HumanActive NetCollaboration software. The software enables
a broker and customer to share information, such as research reports
and financial analysis, while talking on the phone. Traditionally, a
customer would have to wait for the broker to mail or fax analyst
reports, charts or other information before continuing the discussion.
Using this software, OLDE brokers can exchange the relevant
information with customers while they are still on the telephone.

"TIS helped us to push the limits of technology and meet our
business goals to come up with a truly unique approach to customer
interaction," said Jiten Patel, chief information officer at OLDE.
"They are working closely with us to pull together the necessary
pieces of technology and execute the project to its successful
completion."
