Netscape just announced that it will deliver a preview of its long-delayed Web browser within the next 20 days. The new release, called Netscape 6.0, is the first Web browser software to emerge from Netscape in almost two years (it skipped an entire revision cycle and went straight from version 4.x to version 6). And because it took so long to develop, Netscape's browser lost a large portion of its commanding market share to Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE). We're excited to see Netscape 6 and hope the product has enough juice to win back the customers it lost to IE.
Bottom line: We have our fingers crossed for Netscape's new browser, but can it really make up for all that lost time? You know what they say: You snooze, you lose.
