INS Upgrades VitalSuite EnterprisePRO Performance Monitoring Version 6.2 Delivers Improved Workflow, a New User Interface and Enhanced Network Monitoring Capabilities
Sunnyvale, CA May 10, 1999, International Network Services (INS) (NASDAQ: INSS), a global provider of network consulting and software solutions, today introduced a new version of EnterprisePROSM, its network performance monitoring solution. EnterprisePRO Performance Monitoring 6.2, a member of the VitalSuite product family from INS, features an improved workflow that allows users, for the first time, to relate application performance issues with the underlying network devices. The product also features an enhanced user interface with a common look and feel to the other VitalSuite products, as well as new end-to-end Frame Relay, WAN device and Compaq server monitoring capabilities.
"EnterprisePRO 6.2's new capabilities reflect INS' commitment to providing a complete end-to-end enterprise performance monitoring solution," said Theo Forbath, senior consultant at Northeast Consulting. "The improved workflow represents a significant step towards delivering a complete, integrated network and application performance management solution, something no other vendor in this space has delivered. And the added Frame Relay monitoring capabilities position EnterprisePRO as the premiere solution for monitoring wide area networks."
Improved Workflow Between EnterprisePRO and VitalSuite
The new EnterprisePRO user interface, which gives the product a common look and feel to the other VitalSuite family members, improves overall workflow by making it easier for users to navigate through large systems to obtain specific network performance data. Customized views allow users to establish folders, bookmarks and other preferences that provide a personalized view of the network that addresses their specific needs.
EnterprisePRO Performance Monitoring 6.2 also brings the concept of a single system for both network and application performance management a step closer to reality. The software has been future-engineered to work with the next releases of VitalAnalysis and VitalHelp to expedite the seamless integration of network components, allowing customers to isolate application problems to specific routers in the underlying network path.In addition, EnterprisePRO Performance Monitoring 6.2 also provides users with greater flexibility by generating reports that coincide with business time periods. Sorting and filtering functions have also been enhanced to enable users to rapidly determine performance problems in large network environments.
"With the new Frame Relay and ATM enhancements, EnterprisePRO has taken a leadership position for managing network and application performance within the WAN environment," said Jim Goetz, general manager of INS' INSoft Division, which produces EnterprisePRO. "Additionally, the newworkflow between EnterprisePRO and the rest of the VitalSuite productfamily allows IT managers to seamlessly demarcate service level problemsbetween the network and application environments."Enhanced Visibility Through the WANEnterprisePRO 6.2 also delivers enhanced end-to-end WAN monitoring capabilities that provide customers with unprecedented visibility into wide area connections for monitoring carrier performance against SLA and QoS parameters. Through the use of private vendor-specific MIBs, EnterprisePRO 6.2 now offers complete end-to-end monitoring of Frame Relay Private Virtual Circuits (PVCs) through CSU/DSU devices, providing detailed reports on dropped packets, round trip delay, utilization and other important performance metrics. The product also includes expanded support for ATM interfaces on Cisco routers and the Nortel Passport ATM WAN switch, providing critical visibility into these high-performance solutions.
"Visibility into the Frame Relay cloud is exactly what we've been looking for," said Marq Youngblood, DP Administrator for the State of Oklahoma's Department of Human Services. "By delivering that capability, EnterprisePRO 6.2 will enable us to provide our wide area users with the support they deserve, making the tool a must-have for any enterprise environment."
Additional Support for Compaq Servers
In addition to providing visibility into the Frame Relay cloud, EnterprisePRO Performance Monitoring 6.2 also extends monitoring capabilities to Compaq servers. These capabilities, which enable Compaq users to take advantage of EnterprisePRO's rich network planning, operations, reporting and exception management capabilities for monitoring system resources such as CPU memory, disk and system bus performance, are available as an optional add-on.Pricing and Availability EnterprisePRO 6.2 will be available and shipping in May. Pricing begins at $15,000, based on the number of devices monitored, and includes INS' comprehensive Service Advantage, which provides customers with total support throughout the lifecycle of their network to ensure lowest total cost of ownership.
