Hello Folks.
Great news! I'm informed that Namo, the best web editor currently available
in all the world, will be ported to Linux. Namo Interactive, Inc., makers of
this fine release, located in Seoul, Korea, is currently working on this project.
Some Linux users and OS/2 users was requested a port to Namo and the developers,
at this time, decided port the web editor to Linux. But the port to OS/2 is
not discarded.
I tested ALL web editors available for download on the Net f on my Windows
2000 Professional Beta 3 and my conclusion is: Namo Web Editor 3.0 is the Best
in Show! In my work I need a tool absolutely reliable, fast, smooth and precisely,
because I update everyday - several times at day - dozens of pages at the same
time. I generate my code using Boxer programmer's editor from David Hamel but
I need a web editor for run really fine in design mode in order to cut and paste
from one page to other in few seconds without errors, problems and principally
without dirty code. I tried and tested dozens of web editors. I registered some
of those editors. Finally a make the right decision choosing Namo. I used Namo
in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 Professional Beta
3 without problems and my productivity was increased in 200 per cent! For screen
captures I replaced Embellish by Namo Capture. The same image that Embellish
made using 80KB or above Namo Capture made with only 30KB! Simply fantastic.
In ten minutes I update one page using Allaire HomeSite, two pages using Hot
Metal, three pages using Dreamweaver, four pages using StarEdit 5.1, five pages
using WebExpress and...ten pages using Namo!!!

Features of Namo WebEditor 3.0

The animated icons and numerous pictures help you create a visually
appealing Web site.

Photo above shows Namo 3.0 Site Manager managing @Macarlo's Official Web Site with seven thousand pages (above three thousand currently running on the Net)
Powerful Site Management
WebEditor 3.0 features an integrated
Site Manager, so you can not only create a web site, but manage it as well.
Site Manager helps you manage your Web site easily by showing the site structure:
parent and child link display, graph style link display, link status, auto link
correction, and more. You can directly change and update your pages while using
a site map. Windows Explorer functionality is also built-in.
CSS Support
Namo
WebEditor 3.0 supports CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) on par with Netscape Navigator
4.0 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0. You can easily create, apply, and view
CSS formats with Namo WebEditor.
Multi-Level Undo/Redo
Namo
WebEditor 3.0 supports practically unlimited Undo and Redo--up to 200 levels.
After analyzing the user's editing patterns, WebEditor 3.0 adjusts the number
of undo/redo steps to perform with each user command to better conform with
user expectations.
Frame
Editing
Unlike some other web
authoring programs, Namo WebEditor supports full WYSIWYG creation and editing
of frames. You can make create framesets directly in the editing window, and
set the size of frames manually for maximum control. Of course, you can also
edit inside frames just as easily as without.
DHTML
Dynamic HTML Layer and Timeline support makes it possible to precisely position
elements on your web pages, and to animate them however you wish. DHTML helps
you make more dynamic web sites.
Script Wizard
The Script Wizard automatically generates the JavaScript programming for various
special effects that you can insert into your web pages. Use it to create rollover
effects, animation effects, drop-down menus, jump buttons, scrolling text, and
other effects with just a few mouse clicks.
Advanced FTP Publishing
You
can publish your web pages to the Internet directly from within WebEditor 3.0.
The built-in FTP client has an easy-to-use interface similar to the industry
standard WS_FTP. Supports creating and deleting directories and files on the
web server.
WYSIWYG Equation Editor
You can edit mathematical formulas as easily as editing plain text. You
can choose between Visual and Script editing modes. The Equation Editor uses
TeX grammar, so your formulas will be readable by any web browser. Namo WebEditor
3.0 also supports MathML, so when web browsers begin to support this standard,
you'll be ready.
Microsoft Word Document Import
Namo WebEditor 3.0 converts Microsoft
Word 6.0/97 documents (.doc files) to HTML format, preserving pictures and tables,
in seconds. The appearance of the document may change slightly when imported.
Theme Gallery and Template Wizard
Namo WebEditor 3.0 can create a complete web site in seconds with
just a few mouse clicks. Choose from over 70 ready-made themes. You can even
change themes while you're editing your web site, or after you're finished editing
it. The Template Wizard can save you much time and effort when creating a new
site from scratch. See how it works.
Microsoft SourceSafe Support
Microsoft SourceSafe is version control software for groups that work
on the same files. SourceSafe lets workgroups avoid file change disorder and
keeps track of the status of file updates. With its SourceSafe support, Namo WebEditor 3.0 makes group Web site work safe and practical.
You must have Microsoft SourceSafe installed in order to use this feature.

Clipboard HTML Format Support
When you cut and paste data to or from other HTML-savvy applications,
WebEditor 3.0 preserves the HTML formatting codes along with the content. You
can copy content from your web browser and paste it into WebEditor, or copy
content from WebEditor and paste it into an HTML-savvy e-mail program such as
Microsoft Outlook Express--either way, all formatting remains intact. Please
note that Netscape Navigator 4.5 and earlier do not support copying HTML formatting
codes.

GIF Animation Utility Included
WebEditor 3.0 includes Namo GIF Animator, which lets you create GIF
animations from your own images files quickly and easily. In the photo
above you can see it running on @Macarlo's Windows NT4 SP5.
Newly Designed Toolbars and Menus
The
new toolbars and menus give Namo WebEditor 3.0 an improved user interface that'll
make your web design work easier than ever.
Main Window Tabs
Tabs at the bottom of the main WebEditor window let you easily move
between WYSIWYG editing mode, HTML source editing mode, and browser preview
mode, saving time and effort. Namo WebEditor 3.0 also features Multiple Document
Interface display mode, so you can switch among several open documents as quickly
as possible.
Draw Table Support
You can create a
table by just drawing it with the easy-to-use Pencil tool. Merging cells
together is just as easy using the Eraser tool.
No More Table Shaking
Tables no longer "shake" when you type something in
a cell.
Additional
Shortcut Keys for Table Editing
By pressing <Shift+Esc>, you can move the insertion position
to the left or right of the table. With the insertion position there,
you can press <Delete> or <Backspace> to delete the entire table.
Fix Current Size and Remove
Width/Height Attribute Functions
Using the Remove Width/Height Attribute command in the Table menu,
you can remove the width and height values of <td> tag in a single
step. The Fix Current Size command can be used to specify the widths of
all the cells in the table at once.
Table Border Modifying Function
With the Border command in the Table menu, you can change the
thickness of the table border easily by applying one of the following options:
Thin, Thick, Hide Border.
HTML Source Edit Window Improvements
Zoom Tool
Zoom in on the edit window for a close-up view of your work. Great
for editing image maps or when working with a small screen. Zoom out for the
big picture. Magnification factors from 40% to 500%.
Vertical/Horizontal Ruler
The pixel-level rulers make placing and resizing tables or images
easier. You can also use the horizontal ruler to view and set paragraph margins.
Document Outline
The Document Outline command allows you to see the overall structure
of the document you are editing. Paragraphs formatted with the Heading 1 through
Heading 6 styles and Bulleted/Numbered lists indented by up to three steps are
displayed in the document outline. Clicking on an item in the outline takes
you to directly to that position in the document.
Table of Contents (TOC) Auto Generation
You can automatically create a table
of contents for your document based on the Document Outline. The TOC is automatically
inserted at the top of the current document. Hyperlinks and bookmarks in the
TOC are also created automatically.
Page Breaks
Namo WebEditor 3.0 supports the use of page breaks as defined by CSS2.
Page breaks improve the readability of a web page when it is printed. Widow
and Orphan protection has also been added.
WYSIWYG Font Menu in the Formatting Toolbar
By displaying font names in their own
fonts, Namo WebEditor 3.0 helps you select the font you want quickly.
Unicode
Supports
foreign languages, including 2-byte (DBCS) languages such as Chinese. This feature
requires foreign-language fonts to be installed in your computer.
Microsoft Global IME Support
Namo WebEditor's support of Microsoft Global IME and Language Packs
lets you add Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other languages that don't use the
Latin alphabet, even if you don't use a foreign-language version of Windows.
Background Spell Check
and Auto Correct
Namo WebEditor 3.0 flags
spelling mistakes as you type, and automatically corrects common ones on the
fly. The Auto Correct feature can also be used to speed text entry by replacing
short abbreviations with their expanded counterparts.
DBCS (Double Byte Character Set) Alignment Function
Microsoft Internet Explorer aligns 2-byte
languages by character, but it aligns English by word. Netscape Navigator, on
the other hand, aligns only by word. When you select the DBCS Align option,
Namo WebEditor 3.0 uses Internet Explorer's behavior in aligning paragraphs.
Wheel Mouse Support
Scroll through your documents with ease using a wheel mouse. You can
also zoom in and out using the wheel in conjunction with the Control key. Use
the wheel in conjunction with the Shift key to cycle through open documents.
ActiveX Control Insertion
WebEditor 3.0 supports the insertion of ActiveX controls into your
web documents. The command inserts the control's properties along with the control
itself.
Flash 3 Source Preservation
When you insert a Flash 3 file, the source will be preserved untouched.
Recognition of Changes By External Software
If the current document is modified by external software, WebEditor
3.0 recognizes the changes and updates the document appropriately.
Copying URLs from Web Browser
WebEditor 3.0 adds a convenient way to
create a hyperlink: simply copy a URL from a web browser and paste it into WebEditor's
edit window, and the hyperlink will be automatically created.
Drag-and-Drop from Web Browser
You can drag text, images, and even hyperlinks
from your web browser into WebEditor's edit window.
