Delayed Updates...

During the month of February, the ISP that host BL Informática web site (which gently hosts The mSQL PC Home Page) experienced problems due to it's incorporation by a bigget ISP. That's the reason I could not provide timely updates to this site while there many important announcements, like a new release of mSQL and the corresponding ports for OS/2 and Windows.

New book on mSQL!

George Reese from The Center for Imaginary Environments is co-author of the newest book about mSQL, already available for pre-order on Amazon. See the Books section if you want to buy the book.

Just a few days after the official release of mSQL 2.0.7, the ports for OS/2 (build #1) and Win32 (beta #1) were announced by Yuri Dario and Joshua Dinerstein. Please visit the authors web site to download these as we could not update the Downloads section yet, but you can read here Yuri Announcement and Joshua Announcement.

mSQL-JDBC updated!

Just a day after the release of a new alpha for the Java 2 JDBC driver for mSQL, George Reese released the final release of the JDBC driver for JDK 1.1.x. You can download both from The Center for Imaginary Environments. We apologize not to announce these news before.

Good and bad news for Perl programmers

Yuri Dario released OS/2 builds of DBI 1.0.2 and Msql-Mysql-Modules 1.23 which he calls "mSQL Utilities". This is the first port of any DBD:: driver for the OS/2 plataform.

But unfortunately, The Qub Group announced they stop the development of Yep-perl, which was the first Perl for Win32 which included DBD:: drivers. Now, Windows programmers have to rely on ActiveState or CPAN to provide a Windows port of DBD::mSQL.

Two pre-built Apache's for OS/2

During the month of February, two pre-build releases of Apache where released for OS/2. One comes from a russian group and has PHP3 pre-compiled as a module, including mSQL and mySQL support, and the other port from Yang Dehua and available from Hobbes comes with Auth-mSQL, SSL and JServ pre-compiled.

VIM syntax files

If you are from the ones who think vi still beats any GUI programmer's editor, you'll like to know you can get syntax-highlightning files for mSQL, Lite and PHP3 at Lxtab's home page.
