Important Note to Users of MSN Internet Access
MSN® Explorer Preview 2 combines a new look and feel with new features that make it easier for you to get more from the Web. However, when you consider upgrading to MSN Explorer Preview 2, you need to be aware of changes that will affect how you read and send e-mail, as well as potential Internet connection issues that may occur when upgrading your current installation of MSN Internet Access.
MSN Explorer uses a new e-mail program based on Hotmail. As part of the MSN Explorer installation, your mail will be moved from its present POP-based system to a Hotmail-based system.
What this means to you and your e-mail:
You will no longer be able to read
your MSN e-mail with your current e-mail program such as Outlook or Outlook
Express. You will still be able to use your current e-mail program to
read old mail, but it will no longer receive new mail.
You will only be able to receive and send new e-mail by using MSN Explorer or
by visiting the www.hotmail.com web site.
Your e-mail address will not change.
Your Outlook Express address book will be copied to MSN Explorer.
You will not be able to read and write e-mail messages when not connected
to the Internet.
You can continue to use Outlook Express or another news reader to access newsgroups.
Warning: Once you have upgraded your MSN Internet Access account to MSN Explorer
Preview 2, there is no way to go back to using your previous e-mail program
for your MSN e-mail. Uninstalling MSN Explorer Preview 2 and reinstalling
a prior version of MSN Internet Access will not switch your e-mail account back
to your previous e-mail program.
Internet connection issues when upgrading to MSN Explorer
When upgrading your existing version of MSN Internet Access to MSN Explorer, canceling the signup process or exiting signup before it is complete may result in the inability to connect to the Internet using your prior MSN Internet Access software.
To resolve this issue, manually create a connection to the Internet and configure it to be used by Internet Explorer. Click here for step-by-step instructions for performing this configuration.
The MSN Explorer Team is working hard to make this upgrade easier, and an updated version of MSN Explorer will be available soon.
Note: This preview release of MSN Explorer is a pre-release (“beta”) version and is intended for US English users only.
