Russian programmer Dmitry V. Zaharov has released a new Mine Sweeper for OS/2. This new release runs from a mini-executable with only 34.5K (!!!! Note that is a prodigy: the old Mine Sweeper for OS/2 that I'm using here runs from an executable called mine.exe with 294,5K more others necessary files; the total is in a zip called mine31.zip (532,5K) that you can get from the OS/2 Download Area of my web site). I download the new Mini Sweper from Hobbes (mnswp14.zip, only 18,5K). I tested this new Mine Sweeper on my Warp 4 FP6 and runs fine. The old Mine Sweeper, by Bill Warner (wtw@cs.wpi.edu) is more sophisticated, with sounds, including trumpet play for the start and others special sounds for other actions. This is version 3.1 of MineSweeper for OS/2 2.x PM with Multimedia Extensions. It resembles the Microsoft Windows 3.1 version, but is not intended to be a clone of it. " I've tested it under OS/2 2.1GA only"- saids the author. It may, however, work with older versions of OS/2 2.x + MMOS/2. I tested it on )S/2 2.2, Warp 3.0 and Warp 3.0. This old version you can see it running on my Warp 4 Client in the photo below:

Well... So, i'm dont know why a was start writing this little game without any original sources from Microsoft... And this game is not my favorite (like DOOM:) Why? I lost my Win-OS/2 WindoweD support due to VERY bad video driver, and at result we have that original Win16 version of this game not running... :(My mother very like this game, and i'm fully rewrited it under native OS/2.
Now, you can play it in multitasking environment without any Win-OS/2 bugs! But you can use this game at your own risk! You can't be totally safed from any system errors or traps, becose this program is not very hard tested.
History:
0.0 DOS Inital release (drawning by std. font ("°,1-8,X,?,
"), 16x16 map
... im installed OS/2 and it formatted all my DOS partitions with sources
:(
1.0 New release for /2 (draw using bitmaps taken from Minesweeper from
Win3.1)
1.01 Now you can play by 3 different difficulty levels
1.02 About box added with icon from Dynablaster-DOS by Hadsonsoft GAME
1.1a Some changes (bitmaps from Minesweeper from Win95 =)
1.3 Bugfix, first release that uploaded at Hobbes.
1.3a Fixed bug on different OS/2 configurations:
If vertical font size, used in horizontal menu
is creater than 16,
you will see very strange display ;-)
Thanks for bugreports ;-))))
1.3b several lang errors fixed in this doc
1.4 Added timer (you always can switch it OFF) and improved UI.
Enjoy!
Req:
OS/2 2.x (i'm using 4 Warp), 486 cpu (lots of math :))), mouse, IQ>10
Faq:
A: There is no timer in game, why?
Q: Yes,there is no timer in versions <1.4, so in 1.4 we got it.
A: How i can restart game without opening menu, etc...
Q: It is very simple: double click left mouse button on game window.
A: Sometimes mouse works very strange in game.
Q: Yes, it is a bug. It will be fixed in next release. Maybe...
