Apple is announcing new Operating System
Mac OS 8.6 is now available for download as a free upgrade for Mac OS 8.5 owners. Among its features are: improved battery life for Powerbooks, and updates to Sherlock, AppleScript, and ColorSync. It includes the latest Apple Java implementation and an upgrade to the LaserWriter drivers for printing. The update is a worldwide distributionand is available in 10 languages.
Sonata
Sonata, the next revision of the Mac OS is slated to be released this fall. It will contain some 50 new features of which two prominent features were discussed as a sneak peek: Sherlock II and multiple user support. Sherlock II will have a better interface. Mac OS 8.5 to 8.6 CD
Upgrade
Upgrade from Mac OS 8.5 to Mac OS 8.6 on CD-ROM by sending in a coupon with proof of purchase and payment for shipping & handling. Available for U.S. and Canadian customers.
