IBM has announced
a new family of Java 2 Standard Edition 1.3 implementations for nine operating
system platforms. This announcement comes within a week of the availability
of the Java 2 version 1.3 reference platform. The family will include Java 2
deployment implementations for Windows®, Linux, AIX, OS/390, OS/400, and
OS/2, as well as support for three operating system platforms for Intel®'s
new 64-bit hardware architecture. All of the new JVMs are completely compatible
