than 70 countries around the world. We represent the needs and
concerns of the Java developer community, and we advocate adoption of
the "write once, run anywhere" vision of Java as a platform.

The Java Business Expo
Dear Java Lobby Members,
The Java Business Expo will be held this week in New York City, and there are likely
to be many significant Java announcements and product releases there. If you are
making announcements or hear of interesting news, then please make sure to visit
the Java Lobby website at http://www.javalobby.org
and share it with the rest of us by contributing a posting.
One of the first major announcements is that the JDK1.2 is officially released -
visit http://java.sun.com for more details and to download. The release of JDK1.2
is a major milestone in the evolution of Java, and it is sure to have impact on
your product design and decision-making.
We have a new poll online at Java Lobby, and I would like to ask you to participate.
The question is "Should Sun make Java 'open source'?", and your input
is needed to help shape our group position on this important question. Please visit
http://www.javalobby.org, login, and cast
your vote. (Our polling mechanism is still quite preliminary, and you will see a
ContactIDNotFound exception if you attempt to vote without logging in. If you login
first, then you should not have any
problem. We are working on making this more graceful.)
Your input is critical to the successful functioning of Java Lobby,
our primary purpose is to make sure your needs and concerns are heard and represented.
We are working hard to make it possible for you to participate conveniently, but
it still requires a bit of effort from you. Please participate and help guide the
group you are a part of.
Thanks,
Rick Ross
