* Participate in the JavaWorld "Swing" survey *
* http://nigeria.wpi.com/cgi-bin/gwpoll/gwpoll/ballot.html *
************************************************************
In a very important poll, JavaWorld is currently asking: "Where would
you like to see Swing packaged for use with JDK 1.2?" At issue is
whether the Swing classes should be in the "java.awt.swing" or the
"com.sun.java.swing" package.
Java Lobby members have expressed serious concerns on both sides of
this
issue. Please help guide our group direction on the matter by
participating in the JavaWorld poll. Thanks!
We will soon have our own servlet-based polling capability online.
Meanwhile, please go to JavaWorld and vote in this one. Your
participation matters.
!!WE ARE SPECIFICALLY ASKING ALL MEMBERS TO VOTE - PLEASE DO IT NOW!!

* WoodenChair and JL Collaborate on Swing Migration Tool *
* http://www.javalobby.org for details & download *
**********************************************************
On a related note, the renaming of the Swing packages has created a
tedious migration problem for many Java developers who have already
been
working with Swing. WoodenChair Software (http://www.woodenchair.com),
in collaboration with Java Lobby, is providing their package structure
management tool, RePackager+, and the necessary files to automate the
bi-directional migration of your Swing source code to either the old
package naming or the new. It can save you hours of tedious search
and
replace in your Swing source code. Download it now.
The necessary files, called PackageMaps(tm), are available FREE via
the
Java Lobby site and at WoodenChair Software. WoodenChair has also
extended to Java Lobby members a discounted price on "Repackager+"
valid
until Aug 20, 1998. This is a general purpose tool you can use to
facilitate any form of package remapping in your own Java source code.
Visit http://www.woodenchair.com/download/SwingMapDownload.htm for
more
info and a free eval version.
Special thanks to Gary Ray and Dan Frank at WoodenChair for their
generous help!
