Sun Releases "InSight to JavaBeans for Program
Managers" Worldwide, Teams with MindSlate to Provide
JavaTM Technology Seminars.


PALO ALTO, CA - Responding to the increasing
need for high-level knowledge of the JavaTM programming
language, Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced new self-paced
Java technology courseware for program managers, and a new
agreement to provide on-site Java technology seminars which
target the needs of independent software vendors, IT managers and
CIOs. The courses were developed for managers who want to
quickly access the benefits of Java computing, and obtain the
expertise to implement Java technology in their environments.
These new services support Sun's "The Road to JavaSM" initiative.
The initiative is a road map for companies to build Java technology
competence, and to reap the business benefits from Java computing
and the Internet.

"InSight to JavaBeansTM for Program Managers"

"InSight to JavaBeansTM for Program Managers" is a two-hour,
self-paced course which is designed to give top-level IT
professionals an overview of the JavaBeans programming
technology, enabling them to make more informed decisions about
their resources. In addition to providing targeted technology, the
course also acts as a comprehensive reference tool and resource for
managers.

"InSight to JavaBeans for Program Managers" is the first of a series
of InSight courses that will be made available this year. The
courses run on multiple platforms, including Microsoft Windows
'95, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and SolarisTM 2.4 or higher
operating systems.

"InSight to JavaBeans for Program Managers" students will learn
about the JavaBeans component architecture and how it is being
used to address IT issues.They will also learn about JavaBeans
component capabilities and how to apply them to solve the
challenges IT managers have within their departments. References
to web sites, publications, white papers and other resources are also
made available for students wanting to expand their knowledge of
the JavaBeans component architecture after the course.

JavaTutorTM product line, offering the benefits of cross-platform,
on-line learning. JavaTutor courses are a family of self-paced
training courses which combine interactive learning and the expert
instruction of Sun Educational Services with the benefits of Java
Computing. JavaTutor classes are written in the Java programming
language.

Sun and MindSlate

Sun also announced their strategic alliance with MindSlate LLC, of
Boulder, Colo. (http://www.mindSlate.com), for on-site,
instructor-led Java technology seminars for IT managers and CIOs.
A leading provider of Java technology seminars for management,
MindSlate will provide one-, two-, or three-day courses at a
customer's site through the Sun agreement.

programming language with their management seminars," said

with extensive experience delivering the information to managers
and executive level IT professionals."

The Java technology seminar topics include "Introduction to the
Java Platform" which provides a comprehensive overview. "Java
Business Topics" delivers information on the JavaBeans
technology, security, e-commerce and the Java Foundation Classes
(JFC)TM. "Enterprise Java" covers the enterprise strategy using Java
technology, including Java Database Connectivity (JDBCTM),
Java Remote Method Invocation, Java Interface Definition
Language, JavaTM BlendTM software and JavaTM Web ServerTM
software.
