InfoTray is a utility that allows you to show data from different sources (your system, other programs, files, Internet) in a compact way on your Windows NT/95/98 desktop. It allows you to organize theinformation in different categories and to update the values periodically, at certain times or depending on the other data items in the information tray. InfoTray is also able to monitor the data items in the tray and trigger alerts (play a sound, show a message box, logging, show an alert window, etc.) depending on the value of the data item. Due to the nature of InfoTray's data update schedule, you can even "abuse" it as a scheduled program launcher. For example, you can show your cpu and memory usage (both as values or as a graph), together with the amount of data in your temp directory, the free space on your system drive (and a warning if the free space drops below 100MB). Also, every night, you could pull in information from several Web pages, like exchange rates, the current version of your favourite shareware and the latest CNN headline. If you are running utilites which are writing logfiles or put results in files (like EmTec's Moony ISDN Call monitor), you can show parts of the log or result files, like the phone number of the last person who called your phone (from Moony) or the status of your last backup (actually you can even configure InfoTray to launch your backup every night).
