Speech API Implementation



IBM is supporting the Java Speech API with the first implementation of the 1.0 specification. With IBM's Java Speech API 1.0 and toolkit, available in 1Q1999, developers can exploit Java platform independence to save time and resources when building speech applications for multiple platforms.

High-Performance Compiler for Java (HPCJ) compiles Java bytecode into optimized platform-specific native (object) code. The resulting code is faster
than bytecode executed in a JVM/JIT environment. OS/2 and NT versions of HPCJ are available in VisualAge for Java, Enterprise Edition 2.0.
