CNET says IBM will "announce a deal to bundle and support Apache's freely distributed Web server. ... IBM will bundle the Apache software as part of its WebSphere application server offering. ... The deal could be viewed as a blow to Netscape's server-side software efforts ... as well as Microsoft's attempts to position its Windows NT operating system as a Web-optimized software package." Business Week says IBM will soon announce plans to support companies that use the Apache Group's Web server software, and to "join in the development of new versions, adding features that appeal to corporate customers".
