STATE OF CALIFORNIA MODERNIZES HEALTHCARE APPLICATION
WITH
IBM'S APPLICATION FRAMEWORK FOR E-BUSINESS
http://www.software.ibm.com/ad/r/99enews11/california-mdl/
Since 1981, the State of California Department of Health Services
(DHS) has used a Microbial Diseases Laboratory (MDL) system to
track hundreds of thousands of infectious diseases each year.
Find out how DHS utilized on IBM's Application Framework for
e-business to update this important legacy system, implementing
their new Web-based, Y2K ready application with WebSphere,
VisualAge and CICS. The MDL is currently being considered for a
Beyond Computing Partnership Award, which honor enterprises that
have strategically aligned their technology and business
operations.
Previously, California's DHS developed the award-winning
Integrated State Information System (ISIS) application with
VisualAge Generator and VisualAge TeamConnection, which was
recognized with an Object Application Award at Object World West
in 1997 and with a State CIO award for the ISIS project director
in 1998. By facilitating administrative duties, ISIS frees staff
to provide better nutritional counseling to Women, Infants and
Children (WIC) families and saves the state approximately
$2 million each month. You can read the whole story at

ALLIED SIGNAL RECEIVES REALWARE AWARD FOR APPLICATION BASED ON
IBM'S APPLICATION FRAMEWORK FOR E-BUSINESS
http://www.software.ibm.com/ad/r/99enews11/customerawards/
At the Decision Processing '99 conference held last week in
San Jose, Intelligent Enterprise Magazine presented IBM and
Allied Signal with a RealWare Award for Best Enterprise

selected from over 100 nominations for the RealWare Awards,

business advantages and demonstrate innovative use of information

Application Framework for e-business using VisualAge for Java,

Earlier this year, Allied Signal received an honorable mention
