 Hello Gang.
I tested here Friday October 22, 1999 the HoTMetal 6.0 web editor just released. If you are needing a sophisticated tool for HTML development and if you have any experience as a webmaster, I recommend this fine release from SoftQuad. In the photo below you can see it installing on my beta test machine for Windows 2000, a Pentium 200 + 128MB EDO RAM.

In the next photo below you can see HoTMetal Pro version 6.0 started on my Windows 2000 Professional web IDE. If you are a web developer this soft can really help you: HoTMetal Pro 6.0 detects all code error and show all for correction as you can see:

 HoTMetaL PRO is a customizable editor for creating and editing HTML documents. HoTMetaL PRO provides authors with a familiar word processing-like environment and a rich array of powerful authoring aids including multiple document views and context sensitive property inspectors. The user interface features configurable window management, customizable toolbars, and tear off menus. The Resource Manager provides drag and drop management of boilerplate text, document fragments, images, macros and other assets, both locally and across a network. Upgrading from HoTMetaL PRO 5.0

If you have been working with HoTMetaL PRO 5.0, there may be files that you should move into the HoTMetaL PRO 6 folder.

If you have defined new tags and/or attributes using the HTML wizard, the results of these customizations will be stored in the file Rules\hmpro5.ux; you can transfer this file to HoTMetaL PRO 6.0 by copying it to the HoTMetaL PRO 6 Rules folder and renaming it hmpro6.ux
If you have converted word processor files to HTML format, the converted files will reside in the Document folder under the HoTMetaL PRO 5 folder, and any graphics files generated from these word processing files will be in the gifs folder under the HoTMetaL PRO 5 folder. Automatically-generated URLs that refer to these files may have to be updated; you can use HoTMetaL PRO's Find and Replace URLs... command to do this work, though some of it may have to be done manually.

What's new in this version

If you have been using HoTMetaL PRO 5.0, you're probably interested in what's new in version 6.0.
You can now edit files on remote sites simply by dragging and dropping from the Resource Manager, or from a browser. Remote editing gives you virtually seamless round-trip FTP access to remote files. It's like having a network drive mounted locally.
HoTMetaL PRO supports site synchronization between local and remote sites to ensure that the most recent files are published.
Several changes have been made to HTML source editing, including access to the Attribute Inspector from HTML Source view. The Attribute Inspector lists all of the valid attributes for the current element. In addition, HoTMetaL PRO can now import HTML without reformatting the code.
The Tags On view includes collapsible tag icons. Simply click on the plus or minus sign in the tag icon to hide or show the tag contents. This feature is useful for rearranging elements and reducing the amount of scrolling when working with the document's structure.
The validation process now provides a logged summary of all validation errors, requiring only a single click to jump to the location in the document where the error occurred.
Enhancements to the site-wide Find in Files... command let you search for and replace strings of HTML text.
You can now select any contiguous rectangular block of cells in a table, and apply table properties or other formatting to the selection.
A new Choose Color dialog gives you instant access to the browser-safe color palette and lets you create custom palettes of commonly used colors.
New Assets are available in HoTMetaL PRO, including the HoTMetaL PRO Button Maker, an interactive tool for designing custom dynamic buttons on-the-fly, without using a graphics program.
The Database Import Wizard now gives you one-button access to database and spreadsheet files for your Website.
French and German spell-checking.
A new COM interface and scripting support make HoTMetaL PRO fully customizable. HoTMetaL PRO supports any Windows scripting engine language, including JavaScript, VBScript, Perl and Python. For more details, choose HoTMetaL PRO 6 Programmer's Guide in the Windows Start menu group where you installed HoTMetaL PRO.
