WATCHCAT HIDEWINDOW HAS ARRIVED
No More Window Freezed on

Great news, OS/2 user! Are you fanatic user of Netscape Navigator 2.02
like me? Well, if you are, no more problems with freezed window during
the famous Netscape crash! Chris Wohlgemuth, author of wkill9.dll, the add-on for WatchCat performs the XFree kill signal, just releases a new add-on, called hidewindow, that occult immediatly the window freezed on WPS! Wich this innovation you can solves the Netscape crash simple hiding the black window formed on the WPS. You simple starts the WatchCat prompt, selecet netscape.exe and click the new add-on!
This addon DLL for watchcat 2.1 gives you an additional item in the addon menu to hide windows of crashed processes. This works even if a process hangs in the exitlist and the window blocks your screen (in most cases).
The crashed program is removed from the window list so it cannot be brought back onto the screen accidentally.
This utility is released under the GPL and comes with full source. HIDEWIND.DLL V1.00 (wcat-hidewindowaddon_v101.zip, 34,5Kb) is available from Chris Wohlgemuth homepage at

Well, now OS/2 users have the choice for Comm/4 (Netscape Communicator 4.04) but same users prefer Netscape Navigatort 2.02 because it is more fastly. The problem of this browser is Java difficulties and the famous irrecoverable crash, when Netscape freezes and a black window persits on the WPS. At this time any killer solves the problem. I tryed all kills of WatchCat, PM Patrol, OSRM2 Lite, Task Manager of Chris Graham, the Kill of FM/2 and others and...nothing! The only solution is the reboot.
Now, with this add-on hidewindow, I tested the crash solution and have success! The black windows is really hided an I can follow working on the WPS.

Installation

1.Copy the HIDEWINDOW.DLL into your watchcat directory.

2.Copy hidewindow.exe anywhere into your PATH.

That's all. After restarting of watchcat the new menu entry is avaiable.

Compilation

You need VAC++3.00 to recompile. EMX should also work. The author was used gnu-make 3.76.1 but any other make-utility will do the job, too. Be sure you've got the wcapi.zip package from the Watchcat 2.1 distribution. Unzip this package into the source directory.

Just type 'make' in the source directory.

History
