Three options are available to perform this operation:
1) Backout - If
you have not deleted the Archive directory required by the CSF, you can use the
FSERVICE.EXE from CSF, but must be necessary you edit the RESPONSE.FIL. (it resides
into diskette 2 of CSF). RESPONSE.FIL have several scripts. Create one like this:
* Response file to back out XR_M001 on C:
> > > :LOGFILE C:\OS2\INSTALL\SERVICE.LOG
> > > :TARGET ARCHIVE
> > > :BACKOUT
> > > :SYSLEVEL C:\OS2\INSTALL\SYSLEVEL.OS2
(Replace C by the correct boot drive you are using)
With this edited file inside the dikette 2, boot your machine with Utilities Diskettes
of Warp, insert diskette 1 of CSF in the drive, start the service and simply run
the Backout. You system will be restored to the precedent level.
2) Backup - If
you are like me and have not time to expend with CSF backout operations, you simple
run a backup - if you have one, like me. Don't forget, man, that backup operations,
like zip operations, do not stores a fundamental file, exactly the Kernel! (OS2KRNL,
resident on root). The only secure method to store it is you copy this file USING
PMDISKCOPY FILEMAN into a diskette. It is necessary because when a FixPak is applied
the Kernell is also updated. If you have the precedent Kernell, run backup restore
operation underwritting all OS/2 files and replace the fixed Kernel by the precedent
(I use OBACKUP from Nikki Locke to perform this operations and after I store the
OBACKDAT into CD, with the Kernel file).
3) Copy partition -
Well, man, actually I have not time to expend because my several jobs, and I simple
use this method: before I will apply a FixPak I copy the entire Warp partition to
other HDD (I have several HDDs in mobile rack for this operations) using PartitionMagic
from PowerQuest. I perform this operation on WPS: If I will be copy Warp 4.0 I perform
the copy from Warp 3.0 (it is on other HDD in my machine). If I will be copy Warp
3.0 I use PartitionMagic on Warp 4.0. Well, if the Fix bombed me, I simple delete
the partition and restore it with PartitionMagic from the HDD I used for this "backup"
(the most recent version of PartitionMagic, 4.0, don' t runs on WPS).
Finally, man, I noticed I have not more problems with FixPaks, because I not expend
my time downloading corrupted files. I simple use FixPak CDs from Supersite and
have not any problem!
(Actually I' m running on the same machine Aurora, Warp 4, Warp 3, OS/2 2. (two
versions), OS/2 1.3, four simplified OS/2 partitions created with BOOTOS2 for maintenance,
with TSHELL from Microsoft (1988), and other Operating Systems like NT, Win98 Linux,
all under PowerBoot from Blue Sky Innovations (This soft was recommended to me by
Dan Casey and now I also recommend it!!!).
