Are you seeking for an excellent and totally free web editor, a web editor really improved, fast, reliable, secure and intuitive? Here is it: EasyHtml version 2.2, by TonyArts. This I recommend enthusiastically!! I tested ALL web editors currently available on the Net on Windows 2000 environment and I judge that this one is ideal for professionals. Simple and efficient, with two preview modes - Internet Explorer mode and EH Mode - this fine piece of software is ratted five Butterflies (the maximum) by @Macarlo, Inc.:

I tested this nice web editor today Wednesday November 22, 2000, on my Windows 2000 Professional Web IDE. Normally I works on OS/2 Warp 4.5 + FP14 environment using Boxer. But today I updated the main-page and some others of my principal web site using EasyHtml 2.2 in order to evaluate its performance and really I'm surprise with the extraordinary efficiency of this little web editor. I downloaded the file EHtml2_2.exe (2.21MB) directly from the developer web site, in Finland, as you can see in the photo below:

The developer have a nice web site, with Mailing List available, but unfortunately resume is not supported and you must use a decent ISP and a secure telephone line in order to suck the file. I sucked it fine using my Download Accelerator. In the next photo below you can see the soft being installed on my Windows 2000 Professional:

EasyHtml installs easy and smooth, in few seconds, without problems, in the Windows 2000 Workstation environment. A shortcut is created in the Start Menu and you need not reboot the machine to start this web editor. Suppose that you are not a professional: you, normally, are scared with web editors that have not Design Mode (WYSIWYG); no problem! Using this one you will be assisted by a intelligent Wizard that teach step-by-step how to create your first home page! Incredible, but this Wizard really works! In the screenshot below you can see the Wizard Screen:

One of the principal advantages of EasyHtml 2.2 is that this web authoring tool sucks an insignificant resort of your machine: no significant CPU usage is requested, no RAM is sucked!! Using this one you can work really without overload and all tasks are performed fast! In the next photo below you can see EasyHtml running on the main-page of my principal web site:

As you can see EasyHtml offers a preview in browser in real time during your work on the HTML code (that you can see in excellent syntax highlightning). The code generated is clean, pure HTML, not the dirty code generated by web editors that use Design Mode. EasyHtml also offers to users another preview in real time, called EH Mode. You can see it in the next photo below:

 Basic info about EasyHtml

EasyHtml is 100% free HTML-editor. It is basically same as Window's memo, except EasyHtml has many useful features (thats why it is a popular HTML-editor), here are few of them:

HTML-tags (< and >) are colorcoded, e.g. <CENTER>Welcome to my pages<CENTER>. Main color of the colorcoding can be changed!

Install

EasyHtml is an self-extracting-EXE so, it won't require any special programs. Just start EHtml2_2.exe (2,21mb).

Installing new version over previous version (if you don't have a previous version on your system just run EHtml2_2.exe and follow the instructions):

1) Go to Control panel and select Add/remove programs. Choose EasyHtml from the list, uninstall.
2) Manually delete the folder where EasyHtml was (uninstall doesn't know how to do this!).
3) Just start EHtml2_2.exe and follow the instructions!

Requirements

EasyHtml has minimal requirements, it will work almost in every machine that Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT is installed. Here are the basic requirements for Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT (and EasyHtml).

Helpers

In EasyHtml there are 17 helpers, they'll "ask" few values from you e.g. in picture helper picture's width. And EasyHtml creates a code based on the values.

Speed

EasyHtml is very fast for HTML-coding. You can select the text you want and press bold-button, EasyHtml will create code like this <B>Selected text</B>. This is how you can make bold, italic, underlined, strokeout, centered and/or headlined text, also e.g. Font helper will create code around the selected text. And EasyHtml is fully compatible with Microsoft® IntelliMouse (some programs aren't), which speeds up the work.

What is new!

1.0 <---> 1.5, many changes e.g color-coding of tags, 2 new helpers, user can modify EasyHtml and of course; other cosmetic changes. This version is fully tested on the following operating systems: Windows NT 4.00 SP3, Windows 95 and 98.

1.5 <---> 1.8, adds many small features like quick-keys, with them you can have e.g the code fast. Now you can set background image to EasyHtml. Biggest new feature is that now you can open many HTML-documents at the same time, this is called the MDI (Multiple Document Interface). Cosmetic changes and now users can modify EasyHtml even more! This version is fully tested on the following operating systems: Windows NT 4.00 SP3, Windows 95 and 98.

1.8 <---> 2.1, adds many cosmetic features like gradient filled caption bars. And floating-toolbars, that means user can drag them where ever he/she wants them, and EasyHtml will save the positions when closed. User's tags, where you can save your own tags and add them to your HTML-document. JavaScripts, total 12 (+1, sample in user's tags) of them. Special character helper, Embed helper and komment (helper). Languages: Finnish and English. And "QUICK-FILE-OPENER" (based on the request of one client), which gives you the change to open HTML-files quickly (you can take it of too). And now you can choose (in helpers which use colors) one color from any color that your screen supports instead of the 16-basic colors. Optimized code, which improves the performance. ESKO the built-in-browser, which can do the same what installed IE can do. Now EasyHtml lets you desing your own toolbars! This version is fully tested on the following operating systems: Windows NT 4.00 SP3, Windows 95 and 98.

2.1 <---> 2.2, only few adds, but they're very important. Options now include few settings affecting some of the helpers. Most major thing which increases speed and brings more stability has something to do with handeling "forms"; in this version forms are created just when you need them and not before, which shows up in increased speed, stability and lower usage of memory. Also new helper included: Imagemap helper. And few cosmetic changes. This version is fully tested on the following operating systems: Windows NT 4.00 SP5, Windows 95 and 98.
