Diskeeper 4.0 Released!

It's here! Diskeeper for Windows NT 4.0 has now been released, with a brand
new technical breakthrough for increased system performance: Paging File
Defragmentation.

The Paging File in Windows NT serves as virtual memory space on the disk,
and is used to swap pages to and from memory to supplement the use of
physical RAM. However, because access to disk-based "memory" is measured in milliseconds and physical RAM in nanoseconds, the paging file is 100,000 times slower than RAM and can become the most important performance
bottleneck on a Windows NT system. In addition, a paging file that is
fragmented into multiple fragments - due to being dynamically extended and
reduced in size - can greatly increase the amount of disk I/Os needed and
significantly slow down the opening and closing of applications.
Defragmenting the paging file into a single location not only speeds up
paging performance, but provides more consolidated free space for Diskeeper
to defragment the whole system.

This new feature enhances Diskeeper's position as the leading provider of

Upgrades

If you wish to upgrade to Diskeeper 4.0 from a previous full version*, there
are three ways to do so:

1. If you have a maintenance contract you are entitled to a free upgrade.
You will be shipped your copy of Diskeeper 4.0 before the end of November,
1998. If you have any questions, please contact Volume License Customer
Service at 800-829-6468. Outside the US and Canada, please contact your
reseller or local Executive Software office (see contact information at the
end of this issue).

2. The upgrade to Diskeeper 4.0 is now available from our resellers.
Contact your local reseller.

3. If you have recently purchased fewer than 20 licenses (i.e. packaged or
from paid electronic download) of an earlier version of Diskeeper, you may
be entitled to a free upgrade. Contact our Customer Service Upgrade Center
at 800-272-0886. Outside the US and Canada contact your reseller from whom
you purchased Diskeeper, or your local Executive Software office (see
contact information at the end of this issue).

* You must own an earlier full version of Diskeeper to upgrade. Upgrades
are not available from Diskeeper Trialware or Diskeeper Lite.
