New features in the latest version include cookie classification thecnology, wich uses artificial intelligency to deduce the coookie's purpose, such as site tracking, e-commerce, or advertising.

"We pioneered the cookie genre by releasing the first cookie manager for Windows 95 in early 1997," Tim Hayes, President and CEO of The Limit Software, said. "With version two, we wanted to continue our strong market leadership. Instead of simply rehashing what has already been done, we were innovative and placed new features in Cookie Crusher that have never been seen before."

New features in the latest version include cookie classification technology, which uses artificial intelligence to deduce the cookie's purpose, such as site tracking, e-commerce, or advertising. Armed with this information, the user can make a more educated choice on whether he or she wants to accept or reject a particular cookie. In addition, the program tallies the total number of cookies based on originating site and classification, so the user can view which sites often send a particular type of cookie.

"A cookie's name and value tells the user nothing about its real purpose and intent," Hayes said. "Cookie Crusher will attempt to categorize the cookie, allowing the user to make an informed choice. Though the procedure isn't 100% accurate, the program makes an extremely well-educated inference."

Other new features include the ability to load Cookie Crusher with any other program on the system and having the product load another program when it is executed. The new version also contains improved support for non-English browsers and provides additional support for the latest versions of Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Cookie Crusher is designed for Windows 95, 98, and NT 4.0 and supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.x and 4.x as well as Netscape Navigator 3.x and 4.x.
