1. We Hope You Had a Good Time
------------------------------

Thanks to all of you who came to last week's Macworld Expo in New
York and helped make it a truly exciting and memorable event. We
had a great time at the show and hope you did, as well.

For those of you who couldn't come, we thought we'd take some
time over the weeks ahead to tell you about some of the best new
products introduced at Macworld. In this week's issue, we'll
concentrate on the USB products in evidence in practically every
booth. We'll turn our attention to software and FireWire in the next
two issues.

And don't forget to visit our special Macworld wrap-up site:

-----------------------------------------
2. Simply Powerful and Stylishly Portable
-----------------------------------------

Let's recap. It has exquisite good looks. A powerful 300-MHz
PowerPC G3 processor that beats the pants off Pentium II-based
systems in BYTEmark integer tests. A 3.2-gigabyte hard disk
drive. Up to six hours of battery life. A crystal-clear 12.1-inch
TFT display powered by an ATI RAGE Mobility graphics accelerator. A
24x-speed (maximum) CD-ROM player. USB. 10/100BASE-T Ethernet. A 56K
modem. All for just $1,599.

Oh yes. It's iBook:

------------------------------------
3. AirPort Offers Wireless Computing
------------------------------------

Do you remember when you got your first cordless phone? How free it
made you feel?

Instead of being shackled to the receiver, you were free to walk
around the room. Sit down in a comfortable chair. Wash dishes. Look
out the window. Pour yourself a cup of coffee. Or stroll outside and
relax in the sun. While talking the whole time.

AirPort offers the same type of freedom. With Airport, you're free
to surf the web, read e-mail, play an internet game, or engage in a
chat without being tied down, a cord length away from a phone jack
or Ethernet port. You can take iBook anywhere around your home,
classroom or dorm, accessing the Internet from whichever cozy corner
you'd prefer to occupy (up to 150 feet from the AirPort Base
Station).

Wireless computing. What a concept:

4. USB Comes of Age
-------------------

A year ago, on August 15, iMac became the first Apple product to
support Universal Serial Bus (USB).

Now, just one year later, all current Apple products--from iMac to
iBook to PowerBook to Power Macintosh G3--support USB, and our
partners have responded by creating a veritable cornucopia of USB
products for Macintosh: printers, scanners, adapters, hubs, modems,
storage devices, cameras, joysticks, graphics tablets, and more.

For example...

5. You Have Your Choice of Multifunction Printers
-------------------------------------------------

Show of hands--how many of you are likely to don a chapeau or three
in the course of a 10-hour day?  So why should your peripheral
devices laze the day away doing only one job?

That must be the thinking at Canon and Epson as both companies
introduced printers at the Macworld Expo that don't just print
(though they all do so impressively) but offer a myriad of other
services as well: scanning, copying, and, in one case, even faxing.

Canon's entry in this product category is the Canon MultiPASS C635,
a USB color inkjet printer, color scanner, stand-alone fax machine,
and color copier designed for the home and home office.

Epson, meanwhile, offers a whole series of all-in-one imaging
solutions: the new Epson Stylus Scan 2000, Epson Stylus Scan 2500,
and Epson Stylus Scan 2500 Pro. All offer photo-quality color
printing (1,440 by 720 dpi) as well as exceptional color scanning
(at up to 600 by 2400 dpi).

6. Surf the Web and Watch 60 Minutes, Too
-----------------------------------------

Maybe you'd like to capture digital video on your iMac, iBook,
PowerBook, or Power Macintosh G3. Maybe you'd like to watch Ally
McBeal. Listen to your favorite FM radio channel. Or participate in
a videoconference.

Now you can do any or all of the above--thanks to Eskape Labs, which
offers several innovative USB products, including My Capture, My
TV, and My TV/FM. Find out more about them at:

-------------------------------------
7. Exciting Innovation from Tektronix
-------------------------------------

There's an awful lot to admire about the Phaser 840 Designer Edition
color printer from Tektronix. It offers built-in ColorSync support
for superb color accuracy. Features optimized PostScript Level 3 for
exceptional quality and cross-platform compatibility. Provides up to
1,200-dpi color resolution. And comes standard with both
10/100BASE-T Ethernet and a high-speed USB port.

And not only do its blue-and-white translucent plastics complement
the Power Macintosh G3 computer, it also offers you free black ink
for life. Find out more about the Tektronix Phaser 840 and enter a
contest to win your very own at:
