1. "Erin Here. Let's Have Some Fun, Mac."

That's how Erin--who shares her Power Mac G4 with four other
family members--logs in.

With her voice.

With Mac OS 9 installed on her Macintosh, Erin's voice is her
password. She speaks her chosen phrase, and she gains access to
her personal environment--her desktop, her fonts, her browser,
her files, her applications, her way of computing--on a Macintosh
she shares with the rest of her family.

How can she do this? By using Voiceprint Password, one of over
fifty great new features in Mac OS 9.

Your Internet co-pilot, Mac OS 9, is coming in October, and you
can reserve your copy today. Just visit the online Apple Store
(www.apple.com/store) or a store in your area. Find one at:

2. Did You Know...

That the 450- and 500-MHz configurations of our recently
announced Power Mac G4 computers offer dual-channel USB?

And instead of sharing a single 12-Mbps channel between them,
each of those ports has its own 12-Mbps channel, effectively
doubling the available bandwidth and increasing the performance
of the USB peripherals you'd like to use.

Like to know more interesting facts about our new Power Mac G4
computers? We've got a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document
that's filled with valuable information:

Acrobat reader at:

3. Just 1 Day Left to Get an Epson Scanner for $64

Tomorrow, September 24, is the last day you can get an Epson
Perfection 636U flatbed scanner for just $64 if you purchase an
iMac (any flavor) with additional memory directly from the Apple
Store.

iMac normally comes with 32MB of SDRAM, but you can order an iMac
from the Apple Store with up to 96MB of SDRAM. Additional memory
improves 3D graphics performance for games, multimedia software,
and image processing/photo processing software (bundled with
scanner).

Normally $199, the scanner plugs right into the USB port on iMac.
It offers 600 x 2400 dpi scanning and comes with Adobe
PhotoDeluxe (for manipulating images you scan), optical character
recognition software (to turn text documents into editable text),
and lots more.

For more information or to place an order, visit the Apple Store
at:

http://www.apple.com/store/

Note: This promotion is not available to education customers, for
whom education pricing and promotional offers supersede this
offer.

4. Fresno State Takes a Powerful Step Forward

"Before, we had many obstacles in using technology efficiently,"
says Otto E. Benavides of the California State University in
Fresno.

But that was before. Now...

"We're sharing files, monitoring students' work, sharing
students' displays across the network, producing stellar
multimedia projects, installing applications easily across the
network, and accessing files and applications through the network
and individual hard drives quickly. What a difference the newer
G3 technology makes."

5. Win an iBook During Computer Learning Month

October is Computer Learning Month, a month set aside to
celebrate the expanding role technology plays in the lives of
students,teachers, and communities.

As part of the activities for Computer Learning Month 1999, the
Computer Learning Foundation sponsors a series of competitions
and sweepstakes "to encourage responsible and effective use of
technology and local sharing of knowledge."

And the grand prize in the various competitions this year is
iBook:

"We move things from Windows to the Macintosh," says Jack Minsky,
founder of Software MacKiev. "That's what we do. We have 107
programmers today, and it's not enough capacity, not even close,
now that everyone wants a Mac version of everything."
