1. iMac Rebirth Announcement

Yes, there was a happy event this week. It's the rebirth of
iMac--the birth, in fact, of an all-new iMac family. This
special edition of iMac Update reveals the vital statistics.

Redesigned from top to bottom, the three new iMac models are
sleeker and more beautiful than ever before. They're faster than
ever, too. There's a PowerPC G3 processor in every model--so
speedy it outraces even the fastest Pentium III.

But that barely begins to describe what's amazing about the new
iMac. A couple of teasers:

- The built-in RAGE 128 VR graphics accelerator blazes through
3D games.

- The revolutionary digital audio system (brought to you by
Apple and Harman/Kardon) delivers adrenaline-pumping hi-fi
sound.

But maybe the hottest feature of all is the groundbreaking
digital video technology that comes with the two iMac DV models.
It's like having the magic of Hollywood inside your computer.
(We'll tell you more about it below.)

Get your first peek at the new iMac family at:

You can order yours today by visiting the Apple Store:

2. Grab the Popcorn and Sit Back

Two of the three new iMac models are called iMac DV. DV stands
for digital video. The iMac CD-ROM drive has been replaced with
a DVD-ROM drive, which means you can pop in a DVD movie (easier
than ever, because now the drive is slot-loading) and suddenly
your computer is a personal movie theater--you see a full-
screen, hi-res image with incredible sound.

To get you started, Apple has included a movie with every iMac
DV: "A Bug's Life," the first completely digital animated
feature.

Sneak a preview at:

3. That's You in the Director's Chair

Aunt Tillie can't make it to little Jason's third birthday
party. Why not make a movie of the event, complete with
birthday song, and send it to her via e-mail?

You want to do a bang-up job on your arachnid report for
science class. How about including a movie, with titles and a
voice-over explanation, of a spider building her web?

Movie making just got easy. That's because of iMovie, a new
product from Apple that comes preinstalled on iMac DV
computers. It's a digital video editing application, amazingly
easy to use, that turns you into the director and producer of
your own home movies.  With iMovie, you can capture video from
your digital camcorder and select the best scenes on your
computer screen. Add sound effects, music, maybe blockbuster-
style titles--and at the end, let the credits roll.

Find out how you can be your own director with iMovie:

4. Nine Internet Power Tools--And $20 Back

That's what you get when you upgrade Mac OS 8.5 or Mac OS
8.6 to Mac OS 9. You get the tools that make Mac OS 9 your
Internet co-pilot--like Sherlock 2, the ultimate search engine;
voiceprint passwords; Keychain, which lets you keep the
passwords for all your accounts in one place and unlock them
with one password; and industrial-strength file encryption.

On top of all that, Apple is offering a $20 rebate to users of
Mac OS 8.5 and Mac OS 8.6 who buy Mac OS 9 before May 1, 2000.
Complete offer details are available in the Mac OS 9 box.

Find out more about Mac OS 9:

http://www.apple.com/macos

To reserve your copy of Mac OS 9, visit the Apple Store at:

http://www.apple.com/store/

Or visit a store in your area. You can find one at:

http://buy.apple.com/

- or -

http://www.apple.ca/buy/

Please note: This offer is not available to education or volume
license customers, for whom education pricing and promotional
offers supersede this offer.

6. Quick Takes

You can do way more with the new iMac than we've had room to
tell you about. Take a look, for instance, at its software:

http://www.apple.com/imac/software.html

. . .

Three new TV ads tell the world about the new iMac computers. If
you miss them on TV, you can see them at:

http://www.apple.com/imac/theater.html

iMac delivers impressive sound--all the way down to those
thrilling low notes. You can extend the power and range of the
audio system by attaching the USB iSub subwoofer by
Harman/Kardon. Find out all about it at:

http://www.apple.com/imac/graphics.html

. . .

Now you can color-coordinate your digital camera with your iMac
or iBook. Check out the just-released Kodak DC240i megapixel
digital camera. Available in those five familiar flavors, it
has automatic focus and exposure, 6X zoom capability, and many
more features that let you capture detailed images and download
them to your Mac via USB.

Get the details on this colorful camera at:

http://www.kodak.com/

. . .

First there was "Toy Story," the computer-animated feature film
from Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios. Now the
toys go on another adventure in "Toy Story 2."

Read all about it--and see the trailer--at:
