Hi, Windows users...
I just evaluated the Netscape version 8 on my Windows 2003 Server and this Beta really runs fine. I'm evaluating and using Netscape since it's first release and this browser was my default browser during various years on OS/2 Warp. At this time I'm using it as default browser in order to test it more accurately. If you are a Netscape fan download this one an try it. Will be an amazing and awesome experience!!

Netscape 8 Beta starts on @Macarlo's Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition Web IDE (click the image to see it in original size)

Netscape proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary with a whole new version of Netscape Browser - Netscape version 8.0 Beta - , the browser that introduced the Web to the world. In this special anniversary edition, Netscape Browser re-invents web browsing with new features that will change the way you surf! The new Netscape Browser provides more security options, streamlines more standard browsing tasks, and arms Internet users with more timesaving solutions to their browsing needs than any other browser. We downloaded this one (12MB) and installed it on Windows 2003 Server smooth and without any problem. This new Netscape uses your default browser configurations, including bookmarks, passwords, plugins and more in order to install dressing its clothes...In our case Netscape 8 Beta was installed similar as Firefox.

We evaluated this Beta and it runs very fine, rather than other Netscape models, offering a lot of new features as follows:

Tabbed browsing

Tabbed browsing lets you have multiple web pages open in one window, freeing up desktop space by organizing sites in a series of tabs that you can easily switch between.

Netscape 8 Beta shows its "About" over its starting page copied from Firefox original (Google Search). Two other web pages are running through tabs. (click the image to see it in original size)

    * Set more than one home page. Automatically open all your favorite web sites every time you launch the Netscape Browser or hit the Home button.

    * Set up tab groups to neatly organize web pages that you want to keep together within a single window. Saving entire groups of tabs is great for things like planning a vacation. Save your hotel, flight, tourist, and Mapquest pages together for quick and easy access right when you need it.

    * Quickly change security settings for a site by opening the site controls window. Change your trust setting for a site, block (or allow) pop-ups and cookies,or switch your display engine. Netscape Browser remembers your changes next time you visit the same site.

 More Secure Browsing With Easy
Control of Site Specific Options

Not only does Netscape Browser includes more security options than any other browser, they are a breeze to change, even for individual sites. Simply click on the Site Controls icon for a site to set its security settings, and then save your settings for that site so that Netscape Browser remembers them the next time you visit it.

    * Netscape's Site Controls let you to choose how much you trust a site. Just indicate how much you trust a web page, and Netscape Browser 8 will automatically set your security settings.

    * Netscape's continuously updated "trust list" automatically identifies sites that you can trust—as well as ones that you can't—and automatically applies the appropriate security settings to make you safer and more compatible.

    * Trust settings are established by trusted partners, helping protect you from "phishing" scams and web sites that distribute spyware.

    * Block unwanted pop-ups and cookies, and easily configure your options to allow these behaviors for sites that require them.

Dual Display Engines: View Web
Sites Like Netscape
Browser or Internet Explorer

Remember the old debate over which is the best browser? Tired of having to use different browsers to surf the web? Well, now the debate is over: Netscape Browser includes two separate display engines, so you can choose to view a web site like Netscape Browser or like Internet Explorer. Netscape Browser gives you access to the best of traditional Netscape browsers, the new capabilities offered by Firefox, and the extended compatibility of Internet Explorer.

You can set either display engine as your default: if a particular site doesn't display correctly, just click the site control icon to switch to the other engine. You can also set your preferred display engine for individual sites.

Multibars: Combine Multiple Toolbars

Use a multibar to condense toolbars into single buttons, creating a more spacious, media-rich browser:

With multibars, you can access each of your toolbars in a single click using the numbered trays along the left edge of the toolbar. You can add up to ten different toolbars to a single multibar without having to stack toolbars on top of each other.

Form Fill and Passcards: Save
and Re-Use Form and Login Info

Form Fill and Passcard Manager make it easy to save and remember information for web-based forms and logins, while keeping that information under lock and key.

    * Passcard Manager can remember all of your usernames and passwords and automatically enter them every time you go to your favorite sites

    * With Form Fill, you can simply fill in your identify and personal information once, and Netscape Browser will remember and enter this data into all web pages that request this information from you.

Live Content: Get News Headlines
and More Directly From The Toolbar

Scroll headlines from your favorite news source. Check your web mail. Display current weather conditions for your region. List movie times for theatres in your neighborhood. You can even view your daily horoscope. Dynamic toolbar buttons can display up-to-the-minute, personally tailored information while taking up minimal desktop space. A single click from the toolbar instantly takes you to the full story.

Blocking Pop-ups, Cookies,
and Other Unwanted Behaviors

As the popularity of the World Wide Web has grown, so has the use of advertising and monitoring in the form of pop-ups, cookies, and graphics. Although there are many situations in which these features are desirable, they can often be intrusive and annoying.

Netscape Browser includes numerous options and methods for blocking such intrusions, as well as ways for you to choose which web sites are allowed to use them. In general, you can set Netscape Browser to block the items that you don't want to see, and then allow specific sites to use them when you find that they're needed.
